In about two weeks, veteran Xbox gamers and new PlayStation players will finally be able to journey to Alpha Halo in a brand-new way when Halo: Campaign Evolved launches on Tuesday, July 28th, for Xbox Series X|S, PC, and, for the first time ever, PlayStation 5 this summer.

A remake of 2001's Halo: Combat Evolved, Campaign Evolved will see Master Chief, Cortana, and the crew of the UNSC Pillar of Autumn once again land on a massive ancient ringworld called Halo, otherwise known as Installation 04 Alpha Halo, as they battle the alien hegemony called the Covenant and other unforeseen forces on the ring.

While Campaign Evolved will retain much of the same gameplay functions, level structure, and storyline as its 2001 predecessor, there will be many changes to Master Chief's first video game journey, with arguably the most noticeable being the new cast of actors portraying beloved characters.

Halo: Campaign Evolved's New Cast

Given that Halo: Combat Evolved is turning 25 years old this November, it's understandable that many of Halo's original voice actors would have retired in the quarter-century since CE's release, so Halo Studios had to recast several characters for the remake.

This can be seen with two of Halo's fan-favorite characters: Sergeant Major Avery Johnson and Captain Jacob Keyes, who were originally played by David Scully and Pete Stacker, respectively.

Unfortunately, neither Scully nor Stacker will reprise their iconic roles in Campaign Evolved, with Keston John playing Johnson and Keith Silverstein playing Keyes in the remake.

John is a fairly prolific video game voice actor, having voiced Gabriel in 2026's Marathon, Mackenzie Carver in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, 6, and 7, and Hiram Blythe in The Outer Worlds, among several roles in World of Warcraft.

Silverstein has a very robust filmography, having voiced roles in several anime series such as Naruto, Sailor Moon, and Attack on Titan, and voiced numerous roles in games such as Hunk in 2019's Resident Evil 2, Hammerhead in Marvel's Spider-Man, and Torbjorn in Overwatch, to name a few.

Halo: Campaign Evolved's Familiar Cast

To help retain the magic of Halo's original story, Halo Studios strove to keep as many of Combat Evolved's original voice cast in Campaign Evolved as much as possible, with some characters in the remake simply reusing the original audio from the 2001 game, as seen with the Pelican pilot Carol "Foe Hammer" Rawley, played by Dr. Tawnya Pettiford-Wates.

Pettiford-Wates hasn't voice-acted in many video games, but she did reprise her role as Foe Hammer in Spotify's 2021 audio drama series Halo Infinite: Memory Agent, and people may additionally recognize her from her role as Dr. Shelvy in the TV show Twin Peaks.

Steve Downes and Jen Taylor will also reprise their legendary roles as Master Chief Petty Officer John-117 and the artificial intelligence Cortana, but unlike Foe Hammer, Halo Studios had Downes and Taylor rerecord original dialogue from Combat Evolved and new dialogue for the remake's expanded campaign.

Halo Campaign Evolved Tim Dadabo

Downes is most famous for his role as Master Chief throughout the Halo franchise, but younger players may recognize his voice from the animated series The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, where he played Star-Lord.

In comparison, Taylor has a far more storied filmography, having played Salem in the web series RWBY, Zoey in Left 4 Dead, Princess Peach in several Super Mario titles, and multiple roles in Star Wars: The Old Republic, among other projects.

Tim Dadabo will additionally reprise his role as Installation 04's monitor, 343 Guilty Spark, but he will also play a brand-new role as the Covenant San'Shyuum Minister of Harmony in Campaign Evolved's three new Operation: METEORITE prequel missions.

Similar to Taylor, Dadabo has a very storied filmography beyond the Halo franchise, having played H.E.R.B.I.E. in Spidey and His Amazing Friends, multiple roles in Dragon Age: Origins and Dragon Age II, a Hacker in Watch Dogs, and will play Genghis Frog in Platinum Games' upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin game.
