Whether it's trudging through the world of Elden Ring, or grinding out raids in Old School Runescape, Laurence is always up for a challenge. However, in real life, his current challenge is learning how to speak Spanish and cooking authentic Mexican cuisine.

Mewgenics is a game packed to the brim with tricky bosses. Whether it’s terrifying hulking spiders, cannibalistic cats or even radical bomb-chucking rats, these abominations won’t go down without a fight.

Dybbuk is one of these horrific entities, a feline capable of raising the dead and infesting your precious cats. This is one nimble kitty, so if you want to reach the end of the Boneyard and progress on to the desert, you’d best put your thinking cap on and come up with some smooth strategies. Otherwise, you’ll be looking at a whole host of dead cats.

10 Best Strategy Games With Roguelike Mechanics

DualShockers compiled a list of several challenging and fun strategy games with deceptively complex roguelike mechanics.

Let’s take a look at Dybbuk's moveset and just how to put this rambunctious rascal to rest.

Boss Overview

Mewgenics Boneyard

As previously stated, Dybbuk is the final boss of the Boneyard Area and requires a fair amount of strategy to defeat. Spamming attacks isn’t going to work here, I’m afraid.

This boss has the following stats:

  • Hitpoints: 85
  • Strength: 5
  • Speed: 3
  • Luck: 5

While 85 Hitpoints is pretty low on paper, Dybbuk has several special mechanics that allow it to evade the majority of your attacks, causing you to miss a ridiculous amount.

Before you enter this fight, make sure your team is fully prepared, and if possible, ensure you have a decent amount of movement speed on all of your cats, as you’ll be doing a lot of chasing during this match.

Mewgenics Wisp

While you aren’t going to be taking a massive amount of damage in this match, you should still play it safe. It’s more of a war of attrition, and one wrong move will have you on the backfoot.

Final Possession

Lick is a melee attack that requires Dybbuk to be standing right next to its target. Lick will deal physical damage, as well as drain mana.

By this point, you will have seen the little wisps that inhabit the Boneyard. They have only 1hp but can withstand the first attack, requiring 2 attacks in total. They can also burn you. Dybbuk will summon 2 of these at a time, but they can quickly take over if you don’t sort them out.

This is easily Dybbuk’s most annoying mechanic. Whenever you target this boss with an attack, it will backflip out of the way onto an empty adjacent tile.

If you corner Dybbuk, it will dash out of the way after a short while and reappear on an empty portion of the map.

Once you get Dybbuk to 1hp, it will endure the final hit and then possess whoever caused the last bit of damage. At this point, the unit will start attacking your own team. You must defeat your own cat, and then hit Dybbuk one last time to finish this boss for good.

Boss Strategies

Phase 1

Mewgenics Hunter

There are quite a few ways to deal with this boss, some of which will require a bit of prior planning. So let’s go through a few strategies.

The first and simplest tactic you can try is to use your entire team to back Dybbuk into a corner. Once every tile around this boss is full, or its back is against the wall, you’re free to unload a bunch of attacks onto it. However, after a short while, Dybbuk will escape by dashing to another section of the map.

A good addition to this strategy is to have moves that can trap or immobilise an opponent. For example. If you place a bear trap where you know Dybbuk is going to land, you can have a fierce turn of attacks before. Or you can use something like the Hunter’s web trap, which also works well.

Other powerful strategies revolve around using movies that target multiple tiles. Remember, Dybbuk can only backflip 1 space at a time, so if you have something like Bramble Shot or Fire Blast, which covers a cross-section of tiles, Dybbuk will backflip into the brambles or the flames.

An easy way to counter Dybbuk is by using the retaliation mechanic. You can easily get some free damage by activating the fighter skill Counter, or by using an item like the Fukumen, which automatically retaliates against the first 2 htis in every encounter.

In addition, if you use a lot of bleed buildup techniques, they can work wonders on Dybbuk, since it cannot dodge innate bleeding. This means you just need to focus on dodging and clearing wisps while the boss dies over time.

Phase 2

Mewgenics Dybbuk Cornered

Before you deal the final hit, there are a few things you need to consider. Seeing as though Dybbuk is going to possess the unit that did the final attack, you should try to have that unit be a weaker one.

If Dybbuk possesses your strongest attacker, for example, a fighter, it can easily streamroll the rest of your team without you even realising what happened. The same goes for something like a tank. You don’t want to have to get through 40+ HP to finish the game.

It’s an easy mistake to make. Try to have your cleric, or simply a unit with low health and movement speed, deal the final blow. You can finish them off in a single turn and be done with this battle even faster.

This boss can actually possess summoned familiars, which usually have very low health, so if possible, take advantage of that.

Post Boss

Mewgenics Artery

Once you kill Dybbuk, you can proceed to the Throbbing Arteries. You need a pretty high constitution to complete this skill check. However, once you clear this and the Spider boss at the end of The Caves, you will unlock Act 2, which starts in the Desert.

A secret zone lies through the Arteries if you bring the quest item from beating Guillotina.
