It is no secret that Mina the Hollower is a notoriously difficult and punishing game on its own. But imagine having to brave the dark perils of Ossex stripped of your ability to heal, with your health bar critically flashing at its minimum, your maximum HP continuously draining by the second, and surrounded by hostile entities that speak to you as if you were a monster.

To track down this challenge, you must first ensure you have expanded your Sparks to at least three slots, which can be accomplished by hunting down Spark Containers from merchants or exploring the map.

Once you are properly powered up, make your way to the Eastern Heath, which is the wilderness zone located directly outside the eastern exit of Ossex. Keep pressing eastward along the main path to enter Mourner’s Mile, a dreary stretch of burial grounds patrolled by goblins and armored knights. When you reach an armored guard standing watch in front of a crypt, go left and head up the northern pathway situated directly above a second armored guard.

This narrow trail will immediately bring you face-to-face with a third armored guard. Dispatch him quickly, march up the stone stairs, and keep a close eye on the left side of the screen. You will spot a Subweapon, a bottomless pit, and a checkpoint resting on the opposite side of the chasm. Right in front of this specific checkpoint sits a mysterious sealed barrier that demands three Sparks to unlock. So break the seal with your Sparks, then step inside the secluded clearing, and you will officially uncover Mina’s grave.

Preparation & Strategy to Complete Mina’s Grave

Interacting with the stone presents you with a prompt to “Lie down,” which triggers a dreamlike sequence that rapidly devolves into a grueling nightmare. The moment you gain control of Mina inside this dream state, you will notice your health is practically non-existent and your Sparks are completely gone, meaning a single stray scratch will result in instant death and force you to restart the entire challenge from scratch.

To prevent any frustration, it is highly recommended that you properly prepare your character stats before lying down. So first, you should aim to upgrade Mina’s Attack to at least Level 9 and her Defense to at least Level 6 to save yourself a headache.

In terms of loadout, your best companions for this gauntlet are the Nightstar, a mace affixed to a flexible chain that allows you to shatter enemies from a safe distance, and the Guardian Casket, a sturdy shield that summons spectral arms to violently shove enemies away upon executing a parry. Both of these tools are invaluable here because your margin for error is almost zero, and your life bar will constantly deplete on its own, making fast movement and efficient positioning paramount.

When you are ready to venture into the nightmare, do so with extreme patience and caution. In the very first corridor, take out the red crow before moving. In the next room, focus on clearing out the mummies from right to left, leaving the mummy on the far left for last since its positioning is the trickiest. Step directly into its vertical alignment and strike it continuously until its upper torso detaches from its legs. The moment it splits, immediately sprint backward to create a safe distance (as the remaining torso will aggressively pursue you) and deliver the finishing blow. Next, go left from here to secure a hidden Plasma Vial. Restore your health threshold with it, then loop back around to follow the lower pathway.

Now, you’ll encounter a passive enemy on your right. Speak to him to trigger a cryptic dialogue, then carefully loop around the bottom of the area to defeat the patrolling horned beast. Fortunately, the health boost from the earlier Plasma Vial will give you a vital safety net here, but you must still prioritize flawless evasion since your life force never stops ticking downward.

Continue pressing forward along the lower route to engage a squad of goblins, maintaining a steady, efficient pace without letting panic throw off your combat inputs. At the end of this dark hallway, you will encounter yet another eerie NPC with cryptic dialogue. Once he finishes speaking, use your burrowing ability to slip underneath the nearby iron fence. Clear out the immediate enemy spawns to claim a second Plasma Vial, but try your absolute best to save this one in your inventory, triggering it only when your draining health meter is on the verge of empty.

Pushing into the final northern stretch will throw one last gauntlet of red crows, goblins, and a final horned beast at you. Once the arena is completely clear of threats, step inside the small dilapidated house that mirrors the real-world burial site, approach the nightmare version of Mina’s Grave, and choose to lie down one final time.

Rewards for Completing Mina’s Grave

The moment you interact with the grave inside the dream, Mina will snap awake back in the waking world of Ossex. Your grueling test of endurance will be rewarded with two treasures resting right beside the monument.

First, you can crack open a newly spawned treasure chest to claim a bundle of Bonestone Flakes. And right next to the chest, you’ll also acquire the Starving Beastium Trinket. Equipping this unique charm creates a fascinating gameplay trade-off: whenever you consume a Plasma Vial, it will automatically replenish your precious Joules meter at the cost of restoring significantly less health points. It is a spectacular utility item for Subweapon-heavy builds!
