Monoliths Guide in StarRupture

Laurence is an avid writer, gamer, and traveller with several years of journalistic writing experience under his belt. Having helped create a student-focused magazine at university, he is keen to reach the gaming community with his guides and game reviews.

Whether it's trudging through the world of Elden Ring, or grinding out raids in Old School Runescape, Laurence is always up for a challenge. However, in real life, his current challenge is learning how to speak Spanish and cooking authentic Mexican cuisine.

StarRupture has a pretty massive world map, that’s for sure. And on that map, there’s plenty to explore, from decayed and abandoned research facilities to vine-riddled underground caves and even a gargantuan crashed spaceship.

However, every player who has done a good amount of exploring is quick to find themselves at a loss when they try to interact with the odd-looking monoliths scattered about the planet. Just what on Arcadia-7 do these things even do? Apart from giving you an unhealthy dose of radiation poisoning, of course.

StarRupture: How to Reclaim an Infected Base

Reclaim your base from Vermin in StarRupture by cleansing your infected base.

Well, today, I’m going to answer that very question, along with some tips as to when these Monoliths burst open and threaten to destroy everything you’ve worked so hard to create.

Monolith Functionality

The truth is, you really don’t want to be going anywhere near these monoliths if you can help it. Because, apart from poisoning you, these ancient blocks of tech are actually beacons that spew out Vermin.

When you attempt to upgrade one of your Base Cores, you will get a warning that your base is about to be attacked. When this happens, a random Monolith close by will shoot out a huge beam into the sky and open up a portal for aliens to pour through.

These Vermin will seek out your machinery and threaten to destroy your Core as it’s upgrading. The only thing you can do is defend your base as best you can.

Upgrading your Core

StarRupture Sky Beam

If you haven’t upgraded your core yet, then it’s something you’re definitely going to have to do eventually, if you wish to proceed efficiently, of course.

Upgrading this main facility will increase your overheating gauge, allowing you to place more machines and increase the productivity of your factory. However, it might be a little while before you actually hit this limit.

Drones are the best means of automatically collecting materials in StarRupture.

The Core can be upgraded to a max of level 5, with the first costing:

  • 30 Meteor Hearts
  • 7,200 Helium
  • 1,800 Ceramic
  • 10 Ignitium

Every time you mine and destroy a fallen meteor, you will obtain a single Meteor Heart. This can be quite a slow process.

Helium is easy to obtain simply by placing a Helium extractor atop those little purple vents that you often see in the world.

Ceramic is made from Calcite Plates and Wolfram Powder, meaning you’ll need 2 sources relatively close to each other.

And finally, Ignitium can be found scattered across the world directly after the rupture takes place. These are pretty obvious as they glow bright orange. When the planet stabilises, these Ignitium blocks will disappear.

Base Defense

StarRupture Turret

So, you’ve attempted to upgrade your core, and now a horde of miserable beasts is threatening to stop you. What now? Well, if you plan on taking them out yourself, then I can only wish you good luck.

However, a better way is to place a bunch of turrets around your base to help you do some of the dirty work. You can unlock the basic turret upon reaching level 6 with the Griffits Blue Corporation.

At that point, place them near the core for 200 Basic building materials, and fill them with standard ammunition. The same ammo is used for your Phantom Assault Rifle. Once you’ve connected them to a power source, they will operate on their own, and your base will be more than secure.

As you continue to increase the level of your Core, the waves will get more intense, and as such, you’ll need to increase the levels of turrets used and learn how to automate their ammo supply.
