If you run Deadpool, Trading Card as your commander, this could be a must-buy
Image: Wizards of the CoastDeadpool is returning to Magic: The Gathering’s Secret Lair with a new drop called “I Fixed it (You’re Welcome).” This time around, he has straight-up vandalized a handful of cards to make them even better. Revealed on Tuesday by content creator Talia Vess in an Instagram post with an accompanying video, the six-card drop is composed of solid staples — but non-Deadpool versions are inexpensive. In the video, Vess opens a “Pool Party Edition,” in which the foil treatment looks like sparkly confetti across the cards.
The previous Deadpool Secret Lair drop from 2025 looked, for the most part, like normal Magic cards. These, however, are all presented as different cards that Deadpool himself vandalized to transform them into something else entirely. What Sol Ring used to look like before Deadpool carved a massive ring of fire over it is beyond my own comprehension. He also used masking tape and a marker to transform Swiftfoot Boots into Lightning Greaves. Similarly, Costly Plunder becomes Deadly Dispute.
Here’s a look at the full list:
Strip away the Deadpool art, and you’re mostly looking at a pile of $1 staples — which positions this drop as pure collector hype. None of these are bad by any means. In fact, it’s the opposite: they’re all efficient, popular staples played often in Commander. But if all you care about is function, you can buy non-Deadpool singles for all six cards at a price of around $10 total. You’re buying the novelty and presentation here, not the power or price of the cards.
For anyone already running Deadpool, Trading Card as a Commander, this is a must-buy since you get more draw, more damage, and more chaos. For everyone else, it’s a reminder that Secret Lair isn’t always about what the cards do. It’s about selling the novelty. That previous drop focused heavily on direct damage and removal, which is typical of black-red. None of those cards, aside from Deadpool himself, were all that flashy either, but the vibes across both are unmatched.
Magic’s visual identity has been compromised for some meta Deadpool jokes, leaving some elements so small that old-timers will need a magnifying glass to read. That’s arguably an even better expression of the character than the previous Deadpool prints, since now he’s redesigning the cards himself.
No release date or price point has been confirmed for the Secret Lair drop as of this writing.
