Fans are starving for new My Dress-Up Darling content following the end of season 2 of the anime. With no confirmation of a third season on its way, fans are left on their toes, but at least the anime's popularity led to a renewed interest in the manga, including a new spinoff title that has just been announced.

My Dress-Up Darling: XOXO from Square Enix Books is a new spinoff single-volume series bringing back our favorite characters from the original manga for new adventures. The volume will be coming to the United States on Oct. 13. Since there isn’t any news of a new season, this volume is the perfect jumping-on point for anime-only fans before possibly moving on to the original manga.

“Marin Kitagawa, Wakana Gojo, the Inui sisters, Amane Himeno, and more of your favorite characters are back in this collection of comedic escapades—and they’ve all gotten a zany makeover,” the synopsis reads. “Why is Wakana’s old classmate suddenly asking him for money? How many horror movies can Sajuna sit through for Shinju’s sake? Will Marin have a successful first stint as a booth babe for the Manga Club? There’s only one way to find out!”

My Dress-Up Darling is a rom-com originally serialized in Square Enix's Young Gangan magazine. The protagonist, Wakana Gojo, loves crafting traditional hina dolls, but he hides his passion from his classmates until the popular and beautiful Marin Kitagawa discovers his talent and encourages him to create cosplay costumes for her. Thus begins a classic will-they-won't-they story, which is made spicier by Marin's massive love for anime.

Although season 3 of the My Dress-Up Darling anime has not been announced, producer Shota Umehara has noted that supporting the series could change that. “The series cannot develop without attracting new viewers, so I would be very happy if season two inspired people to watch the anime or buy the original manga,” Umehara said in a recent interview. Hopefully, this new spinoff manga will do well and help the franchise gain more recognition.
