For Shrek's 25th anniversary, Lego and DreamWorks Animation team up for Lego Shrek

The Lego Group and Universal announced the first Shrek Lego sets on Thursday, bringing beloved DreamWorks Animation characters Shrek, Donkey, Puss in Boots, and Gingy to brick form with two new collections.
The first Lego Shrek set includes buildable versions of the ogre himself and sidekick Donkey, plus a minifigure version of Puss in Boots. The 1,403-piece posable display set features a swamp base with Shrek's classic "Beware Ogre!" sign, and includes details like sunflowers, an onion, and a blue flower with red thorns. Shrek's guts can be opened to see what's in the ogre's belly. That appears to include little Easter eggs like an eyeball and a waffle.
The Lego Shrek: Shrek, Donkey & Puss in Boots set measures 9.5 inches tall and 8.5 inches wide. It costs $129.99 and is available for pre-order now. The display set will officially be released on June 1.

The Lego BrickHeadz: Shrek, Donkey & Gingy set is composed of 259 pieces and costs $24.99. The BrickHeadz are available for pre-order now and will emerge from the swamp on June 1.

Three theatrical sequels were released, with the franchise grossing $2.9 billion. The series has since spawned a live-touring show, a Broadway musical, and has been realized in the real world with attractions at Universal Studios theme parks worldwide. A fifth Shrek film is in the works; Shrek 5 will bring back stars Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz, and Eddie Murphy, with Zendaya joining the cast as Shrek and Fiona’s daughter.
It sounds like The Lego Group and DreamWorks are just getting started with the Lego Shrek lineup, according to Raquel Ojeda, creative lead from the Lego Group. (The sets are conspicuously missing Princess Fiona, you'll note.)
"Shrek has always celebrated imagination, friendship, and a little bit of mischief, which are values that translate perfectly into Lego play," Ojeda said in a news release. "We’re ogre the moon to partner with this beloved universe and see how fans build their own fairy-tale adventures. This is just the beginning, so keep your eyes peeled for lots more Lego Shrek magic!"
