Covering the video games industry since 2017, with experience in news, articles, lists, and reviews (and I blame The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask for that).

If you are a fan of RPGs and want a third-person version: Tayná Garcia is a Brazilian journalist (but you can call her Tay) who ended up working with video games after finishing Zelda: Majora's Mask when she was a kid. With more than eight years of experience in the segment, she has been an assistant editor at Jovem Nerd in the past and is currently a contributor at DualShockers and a writer for gaming magazines for Editora Europa. Oh, and she may like Hideo Kojima a bit too much.

Naughty Dog made it very clear back when Uncharted 4 was released that we wouldn't see Nathan Drake on any more treasure hunts.

While that may technically be true, it seems we have finally discovered what he’s been up to since retirement... or something like that.

The Uncharted Outbreak?

Recently, eagle-eyed players browsing the latest PS Store updates noticed a peculiar title called 28 Floors: Outbreak, which is a game featuring a very familiar PlayStation face as its protagonist: none other than Uncharted’s Nathan Drake.

According to the title’s description, which is slated for a 2027 release, it is a first-person survival horror where the “only safe place is a single working elevator”, so your goal is to reach the roof of a building while helping other survivors and defeating deadly creatures along the way.

To make things even weirder, a closer look at the screenshots on the PS Store page reveals zombie-like creatures that look suspiciously like the Clickers from The Last of Us. You can take a look at the store page findings below:

The situation gets even more bizarre when you realize Sony has absolutely nothing to do with this. The project is developed by Witenovastudio OÜ, an independent developer and publisher based in Estonia. According to their “under construction” website, the studio aims to launch projects across all major platforms, including PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

A quick dig through the PS Store reveals other projects from the same studio, such as Comfy Corners: Unpack and Decorate, a cozy sticker game with mixed reviews, and upcoming titles like Oh Ship! Rage Co-Op Adventure and Wednesday 13th, a game clearly trying to capitalize on the popularity of the Netflix series.

At the time of this post, Sony has not publicly commented on the matter or indicated whether the game will be removed for seemingly infringing on Uncharted’s copyrights, but their explanation on why this project simply appeared in their official store will certainly be interesting.

As for the real Uncharted franchise, it remains officially concluded with no new games in sight. Meanwhile, Naughty Dog is fully focused on the development of Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, as the studio prepares to explore the sci-fi frontier.
