Luigi did it. The other Mario brother is finally getting the deluxe Lego Mario Kart treatment, as previously teased. Nintendo and The Lego Group announced Tuesday, March 10 (aka "Mario Day") that the latest addition to the lineup of Lego Super Mario products will be Luigi and his Mach 8 kart.

Following last year's release of the Lego Super Mario Kart set featuring Mario, Lego is releasing a new 2,234-piece set for Luigi. The buildable Lego Luigi figure features a posable head, arms and hands, as well as a stand for "dynamic, race-ready angles." According to Lego, the steering wheel turns the front wheels, and turning the back wheels will spin the flame exhaust, allowing for "playful movement."

Lego's Luigi and Mach 8 set, however, does not appear to include an option to give the green guy his iconic Death Stare, as seen in Mario Kart 8. For better or worse, Luigi seems pretty chipper to be behind the wheel of the Mach 8.

The Lego Mario Kart — Luigi & Mach 8 set costs $179.99 (£159.99 / €179.99), $10 more than Mario's set (which was composed of 1,972 pieces). Fully built, the Luigi set measures over 10 inches high, 16 inches long, and 9 inches wide. It's available for pre-order now via lego.com, and will ship on April 1 — the same day that The Super Mario Galaxy Movie opens in theaters.

Nintendo and Lego have released dozens of sets together as part of their yearslong partnership. That includes more than 20 Super Mario-themed sets, ranging from interactive Mario and Luigi play sets to a large-scale Lego Bowser to recreations of 16-bit Mario and Yoshi sprites. Earlier this year, Lego and Nintendo broadened their partnership with the first-ever Pokémon Lego sets.
