A classic Metroid game could be making a comeback on the Nintendo Switch 2, based on an advert on Walmart's website for the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack.

The Nintendo Switch is a great system for Metroid fans, with the 8- and 16-bit entries, the HD remake of Metroid Prime,

Metroid Dread, and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. There are still several titles missing, especially the ones on the 3DS, but the Switch and Switch 2 are packed full of Metroid goodness.

It seems another Metroid is coming to the Nintendo Switch 2, but only for people with a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscription. As spotted by Nintendo Life, there's a Walmart advert for the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack that features Metroid Prime 2: Echoes and Pikmin 2 on its banner.

Metroid Prime 2 Leaked For Nintendo Switch 2

Metroid Prime 2 Samus

Putting Metroid Prime 2 on the Nintendo Switch 2's GameCube app is a great idea, and it makes sense that Nintendo is skipping the first one, since it's still selling its HD remake. However, it also suggests that it won't be receiving an HD facelift of its own anytime soon.

If Walmart is promoting the addition of these GameCube titles to the Nintendo Switch 2 library, it's likely they'll be announced soon. There are rumors that a Nintendo Direct is scheduled for February 2026, and it's likely that Nintendo Switch Online will be a big part of it.

The Nintendo GameCube library for the Switch 2 has been surprisingly bare since the system launched, and it's in dire need of some classics, especially Mario Kart: Double Dash!!. Hopefully, this Walmart leak is legit, and some more Samus is on the way.
