NPCs that Should Appear in the Elden Ring Movie

2 weeks ago 14

The Elden Ring movie has officially been announced, and there isn't much to go on. Set photos have been leaked, making the movie look pretty great so far from a practical standpoint. So far, we only know that the studio and Alex Garland are most likely aiming to recap the story of the game.

Ever met a shopkeeper in a game and wanted to have them return in a sequel?

We know who the main cast is, but we don't know what roles they are going to play. This gives us the chance to pick and choose which characters may be in the upcoming movie. Today, let's look at NPCs that should be in the Elden Ring movie specifically, because we can already infer other characters, like Marika, Radagon, and Radahn will surely be there.

11 Merchant Kalé

Merchant Caravan

Elden Ring Characters Merchant Kale

One of the very first NPCs that the player character runs into in Elden Ring is Kalé. He is a lone merchant sitting inside a dilapidated church, tending to a fire.

He is also the one of first NPCs to give some information about what is happening in The Lands Between, and the first NPC to offer something to the player, giving some genuine advice.

We don't know if the team behind the movie plans on adapting the Frenzied Flame storyline, but having Kalé would help lead the protagonist in this direction. Even if they don't want to use the Frenzied Flame, it would be nice to get some lore from Kalé, telling the protagonist about what happened to the merchants before the Great Caravan collapsed.

10 Blaidd

The Friendly Wolf

Elden Ring Characters Half-Wolf Blaidd

Blaidd is involved in one of the longest and perhaps most obtained questlines in Elden Ring. Kalé will typically tell you about the wolf-man in the forest, and when you find him, he will lead you down the quest of finding Raya Lucaria Academy, and speaking to the blacksmith Iji.

Blaidd also helps point you in the direction of the underground ruins of Siofra River, and will even aid you in the Radahn Festival. We have no doubt that Radahn will play a role in the story, so seeing Blaidd makes sense.

It also makes sense that Ranni would play a role in the story, and since Blaidd is her loyal servant, it makes even more sense for Blaidd to be involved. We could see Ben Whishaw playing this character.

9 Patches

He's in Everything

Elden Ring Characters Patches

There is one consistent NPC across every Souls game that FromSoftware has created. If you haven't heard of him or seen him, his name is Patches, and he typically tries to get you killed.

In the original Dark Souls, he stands by as you fumble around in the dark, tells you where false treasure is, and tries to get you killed via a lengthy drop off a cliff. In every title, it is the same story, but we still go through the process of unlocking him as a merchant. Heck, he's even pulling tricks on you before that in Demon's Souls, too.

Patches also appears in Elden Ring. First, he will be a boss, chickening out if you deplete too much of his health. After that, he becomes a merchant, offering little bits of lore and moving around. His route also leads to Rykard, one of the major bosses of the game.

Even though he might not offer much, Patches needs to be in the project since it is an adaptation of a From Software game. It would feel vacant without him.

8 The Finger Readers

And Enia

Elden Ring Characters Enia

We assume that the Two Fingers will play a major role in the story of the Elden Ring movie. If that is the case, Enia should be there. After all, she is the one who interprets the will of the Two Fingers.

WIth the Two Fingers renouncing the demigods, this sets the Tarnished on the path to kill the game's major bosses. It feels necessary for Enia to be there to guide the main protagonist through the story.

Along with this, various Finger Readers appear across The Lands Between, guiding you on where to go next. If Enia doesn't appear, at least some normal Finger Readers could make an appearance to help guide the protagonist through the bulk of the movie.

7 Sorceress Sellen

Learn Some Magic

Elden Ring Characters Sellen

Sorceress Sellen is one of the main reasons players go down the route of learning magic in Elden Ring. She acts as that first step into the world of Glintstone magic, and she offers more spells if you bring her scrolls.

While we don't think that the movie could adapt her entire story, with her being expelled from the Academy of Raya Lucaria for her study of the Primeval Current, it would be nice to see her make an appearance as a guiding force for the main character of the story.

Since her character ties into Jerren, who also ties into Radahn, we could easily see her being in the movie, and she is an NPC that could help guide the player to the academy, or perhaps their downfall.

6 White Mask Varré

Leading to Mohg

Elden Ring Characters Varre

White Mask Varré is the first NPC you will ever encounter in Elden Ring. He stands just outside the mausoleum, waiting to "welcome" you to The Lands Between.

He initially guides the player to Stormveil Castle where they will meet Godfrey. Later on, however, he guides them to a much different area: Mohgwyn's Palace. Here, you can find the Lord of Blood, Mohg.

Varré could easily play an antagonistic force, or one that is trying to lure the main protagonist away from their true goal or purpose. He could also be a force that is trying to aid the protagonist, but in a dark way that the protagonist ultimately rejects later in the film.

Either way, without Varré standing there, waiting for the Tarnished to arrive, The Lands Between wouldn't feel right.

5 Hyetta

Blind Follower

Elden Ring Characters Hyetta

Shabriri should definitely be involved in the movie, and with that being said, so should Hyetta. Throughout the game, you find Shabriri Grapes to give to Hyetta. She then gets led to the site of the Three Fingers, ultimately leading the player to the Frenzied Flame.

Hyette could play a misleading role in the movie, giving the protagonist false hope of helping a maiden, only for her to lead them to despair and chaos. As you give Hyetta the Shabriri Grapes, she grows increasingly mad, eventually reaching the Three Fingers, and telling the player to enter and accept the Frenzied Flame.

This could be an interesting turning point in the movie, with Hyetta trying to lure the protagonist away from their maiden, making them accept an offer that would ultimately throw The Lands Between into chaos.

4 Iron Fist Alexander

Our Jar Lad

Elden Ring Characters Alexander

Alexander is one of the most beloved NPCs in Elden Ring. You first meet him as he is stuck in the ground. Rescuing him will lead you on a questline of greatness, ultimately ending with you defeating him in battle.

Alexander plays a big role in helping you defeat Radahn, should you decide to summon him during the festival. We feel like Radahn will play a large role in the movie, so having Alexander there to help the protagonist would make a lot of sense.

We could easily see Alexander showing up throughout the movie to aid the protagonist in key moments, and we might get to see a battle between the two. As a bonus, Nick Offerman has been confirmed to be in the movie, and many fans have cast him as Alexander.

3 Gideon Ofnir

The All-Knowing

Elden Ring NPCs Gideon

The Lands Between can be a confusing place, and, as the Tarnished, it will be the protagonist's job to make their way across the regions, learning all they can about their missions. There is only one NPC who comes to mind when we think of learning, and that is Gideon, The All-Knowing.

He is found in Roundtable Hold, and throughout the game, he tells you about the different demigods that you must defeat. His role in the movie would for sure be that of the wise sage who guides the Tarnished across The Lands Between.

Of course, Gideon could also act as a rival figure to the protagonist, ultimately turning against them as they get close to achieving their final goal, and acting as a barrier before the final fights.

2 Melina

Your Maiden

Elden Ring Characters Melina

Melina is a rather vague character in Elden Ring, but she is also the most useful of the bunch. She initially comes to you, telling you that she can play the role of your Maiden, allowing you to rise to become the Elden Lord.

If the movie hopes to follow the story of the game, then Melina will almost certainly need to be involved, as there would be no story if the Tarnished protagonist remains maidenless. Plus, this would open up the door for other interesting characters like Hyetta to come in.

After all, Melina repeatedly tells you to stay away from the Frenzied Flame, and will ultimately leave you if you choose to pursue that route. We don't know what ending the movie will be going for, but there is a chance that it will take the route of the Frenzied Flame, making it so Melina is forced to hunt you down.
