As you make your way through Octopath Traveler 0, you'll likely discover that JP is going to become one of your most valuable assets. Short for Job Points, JP is crucial to both attaining new skills, and unlocking new jobs for your party.
If you're on the hunt for JP, however, you may notice that the cost of using it will increase with each purchase. That makes your inevitable hunt for this precious resource even more imperative.
RELATED
On your journey through Octopath Traveler 0, it's important to get as much JP as possible. There are quite a few ways to farm JP, too, thankfully.
So, if you're low on JP or just want to grind it out, check out our guide. I'll cover how to earn JP, good farming spots and how you can increase your JP intake.
How JP Is Earned
JP is earned largely in battles. Every fight grants you some JP at the end, but there are a multitude of factors that determine that.
Enemy level, how quickly you defeat an enemy, what skills you have equipped, all of these come into play.
You can increase the value of JP you get, but simply defeating enemies is mostly how you'll get JP throughout the game.
Using Skills To Farm JP
There are a few skills that will heavily increase your JP. Both of these require different jobs, so be sure to pick which one you think suits your play style the best.
The Merchant job has a skill known as Arrow of Fortune. When you use this skill, you will get a massive amount of JP on the post-battle screen. The more damage done, the higher your JP yield.
Another good one is Extra JP. This is a passive ability, and when it's equipped, you will get a huge JP boost at the end of battles.
Extra JP isn't quite as good as Arrow of Fortune, but it will definitely help. In this game, every little bit of JP will do some good for you.
Defeat Enemies To Farm JP
When defeating enemies in battle, you will always get a little bit of JP. It's largely dependent on enemy level, but the game has some systems in place that can help your JP output.
Firstly, you'll want to make use of the Break system and exploit weaknesses. Once you break an enemy, stacking attacks with Boost that target their weakness will give a significant boost to your JP gain.
Pair this up with something like Arrow of Fortune and Extra JP, and you'll see a significant increase in your yield. Additionally, if you are able to defeat an enemy in one turn, that will also increase how much JP you can get.
Best JP Farming Spot
One of the best JP farming spots is seen on the map shown above. Theatropolis Plains in the Flatlands Region has several Level 10 areas, where some powerful enemies dwell.
Specifically, the Knights Ardante Garrison is a great place to farm JP. Enemies here are fairly high level, and defeating them with the previously mentioned skills equipped can really give you some outstanding JP yield.
Once you feel confident enough and you've got a decent party, this is the place to go. The enemies aren't so overwhelmingly powerful here to make it pointless.
You can easily farm anywhere from 2 to 3 thousand JP per hour. If you're someone who really enjoys JRPG grinding and wants some JP to get those abilities that you've had your eye on, Theatropolist Plains is a great place to start.
