Ritual Games' 2022 2D platformer, One Gun Guy, is currently available for free on Steam as a part of publisher GrabTheGames' holiday sale.

Not to be confused with One-Punch Man, One Gun Guy is described by its developer as "a straight-forward, no-nonsense action platformer," One Gun Guy features a singular "giant level" with one boss. You play as the titular guy with the titular gun, but the game's lone, large level is full of character upgrades, hazards to avoid, coins to collect, and smaller, non-boss enemies to kill. It also features multiple difficulty settings.

One Gun Guy only takes about 30 minutes to complete, and its Steam user reviews currently have it sitting at a "Mixed" rating. Still, it's free, and its surprisingly stylish pixel art, sci-fi aesthetic, and charming 8-bit soundtrack make it a fun way to kill 30 minutes while you're waiting for holiday cookies to finish baking (or waiting for them to cool off so you can eat them all).

If you want to add the game to your library free of charge, you'll need to act now — One Gun Guy's 100% discount will disappear when the GrabTheGames holiday sale ends on Dec. 18. After that, the game will revert to its standard $5 retail price, and although it's not exactly a bank-breaking cost, everyone knows that, like food, games taste better when they're free. (Unless microtransactions are involved, anyway.)
