Anyone who has been playing Palworld for a decent amount of time will understand the importance of your base and the strength of having decent Pals within it. Pals are extremely important in making sure your base runs smoothly, whether it’s smelting ingots, harvesting crops or crafting items.
For those who aren’t aware, the speed at which a Pal performs their duties is indicated by the Work Suitability level, or their Affinity, which is based on a scale of 1-10. Even a Pal with a 1 in a certain work affinity can do that job; however, a Pal without a level in a certain work style will never be able to.
If you’ve reached the endgame, and you’re looking to optimise your base with some of the most powerful Pals, you’ve come to the right place.
While any Pal can reach level 10 with the use of Handbooks, this guide will focus on Pals with natural levels and levels granted by condensing. Under the right circumstances, pretty much any Pal can be incredible; however, this requires a lot of expensive resource investment.
Kindling
Starting with Kindling, the Pal with the highest base level is Renjishi, with a Kindling level of 8. To find Renjishi, you'll need to go to the Toxic Caves in the north-east of the World Tree. Here, you'll find a cave, with an Alpha Renjishi waiting inside.
You can condense Renjishi, or simply feed it Starfruits to reach level 10 without having to use handbooks. This Pal is perfect for smelting Paloxite Ingots in the Ancient Furnace, or simply cooking large volumes of food.
If you’re still early on and want a Pal that increases the base Kindling level of all your other Pals, it’s worth investing in a Katress Ignis, found in Sakurajima Dungeons! This will speed up all your other Kindling Pals without you having to worry about Handbooks.
Watering
In terms of Watering, the best Pal for the job is Shaolong, found in the central area of the World Tree. This Pal has a base Watering level of 8.
Just like Renjishi, you can reach a Watering level of 10 simply by condensing Shaolong a few times and increasing its star level. Shaolong is great for Watering crops, powering Grinders, or using at the Mill.
If you’re just looking to give your other pals a boost, however, you might want to pick yourself up an Amione, which can be found in Sunreach by the waterfalls or west of the red-grass area. This will give all other base Pals +1 Watering.
Planting
The best Pal you can pick up for Planting is Dandilord, with a natural Planting level of 8. To get Dandilord, you’ll have to head into the Toxic Cave biome in the World Tree, and head north to Rotmist Root Icon. Dandilord is the boss of the area, and one of 3 bosses needed to open up the door leading to the final fight of the game.
Due to the boss fight taking longer than catching normal Pals, it’s easier to use a couple of Starfruits on Dandilord to make it level 10 Planting. At this point, it’ll be the best Pal for planting any type of crops in large numbers.
If you’re looking to give your planting Pals a little boost, be sure to pick up a Petalia around Mount Flopie, or on the northwest section of Sakurajima.
Generating Electricity
If you want some efficient electricity generation, be sure to pick yourself up an Orzerk. This Pal is commonly found in groups of 3, in the north-east area of the World Tree. This Pal has a base electricity generation level of 8.
This is the only Pal in the game that will naturally get to level 10 electricity generation by condensing it, so having an Orzerk is pretty important, especially when you have an Ancient Power Generator or 2!
If you’re pretty early on and looking for a decent way to generate electricity, grab yourself a Puffolt to boost all your other electrical Pals. This can be found around the Ascetic Falls or around the Boss Tower in Sunreach.
Handiwork
The best Pal, in terms of Handiwork stats, is Solenne, found in the southwest area of the World Tree, just west of the zone with the golden grass. Solenne has 8 Handiwork and is particularly good because it doesn’t need sleep.
Dark Pals in general are pretty great for your base as they don’t require rest and will generally work as long as possible, barring injuries and other ailments.
Once more, this is the only Pal that can get 10 Handiwork simply from condensing. Solenne is perfect for crafting any item you need, as well as for base fishing, and using on mounted base-defence turrets.
Handiwork is a very common secondary trait in many Pals, so picking up a Ribbuny to boost all your Pal’s Handiwork level is great early on. What’s also great is that Ribbuny is found right at the start of the game!
Gathering
Next, we have Gathering, where the best Pal for the Job, oddly enough, is Jetragon, with a Gathering level of 8. This Pal might seem like more of a fighter than a base Pal, but it does a great job at both! Jetragon can be found on the northwesternmost island in Sunreach, chilling in a water-filled cavern.
Naturally, condensing Jetragon a few times will give it a Gathering level of 10, making it perfect for collecting all of these crops that you may have planted.
Now, if you’re looking for a Pal that boosts Gathering levels, you’ll want to grab yourself a Clovee, which can be found extremely early in the Windswept Hills.
Lumbering
If you have some trees that need felling, look no further than Celesdir Noct, which has a base Lumbering Level of 8. You can pick up this pal in the World Tree right before the bridge that leads to the final boss, or by breeding a regular Celesdir and Kitsun Noct.
Give this Pal a few Starfruits to grant it a Lumbering level of 10, and then assign it to Hardwood for huge gains!
To boost Lumbering for your entire squad, you’ll want to get yourself an Eikthyrdeer Terra, which can be found primarily in the first Wildlife Sanctuary just west of spawn.
Mining
Mining is a particularly important skill, and one that requires a great deal of Pals when gathering materials for your crafted items. For this, the best Pal for the job is Aegidron, found just south of the final boss gate in the World Tree.
Aegidron has a natural Mining level of 8, which can be increased to 10 by condensing it. If you’re looking to mine a huge amount of any type of ore, this Pal is your go-to!
Many folks set up separate bases simply filled with mining Pals to maximise the amount of materials they have, so grabbing yourself a Tetroise to boost the Mining levels of all your Pals is a pretty great idea! Tetroise is found super commonly in the northeastern Desert region.
Medicine Production
Medicine Production is a skill that might not seem that useful early on, but becomes crucial as you improve your base and reach the endgame. For this, you’ll want a Silvance, which is the counterpart to Dandilord, being a boss of the World Tree.
Silvance can be found in the southwest of the World Tree, and needs to be captured or defeated to face the final boss. This Pal has a natural Medicine Production level of 8, and is the only one that can be condensed to a level of 10. You’ll need a Pal with at least level 6 Medicine Production to operate the final, most powerful workstation of the game.
For those looking to get a base level boost for Medicine Production, you’ll need to find a Mycora, which, like Silvance, can only be found in the southwest area of the World Tree.
Cooling
Cooling is quite similar to Medicine Production, in that it only really becomes useful later on in your adventure, when your technology becomes more advanced. For this, you’re going to want to pick up a Bastigor, found commonly in the northwest icy area of the World Tree.
Bastigor has level 8 Cooling and can be condensed to level 10. This isn’t as difficult, as Bastigor is found all over the Cold zone. Bastigor is pretty great for Cooling the Ancient Furnace when crafting Paloxite Ingots and keeping food chilled.
To boost all your other Cooling Pals, you’ll need to find a Smokie Cryst, which can be found on the Cold Island directly west of Faebreak Island.
Transporting
Transporting is an interesting one, as there are 2 parts to this skill. You need a Pal with a good Transporting level, but also a high transport speed and a high run speed. This, of course, depends on the distance between the workstation and the storage chests.
In terms of a natural Transporting level, we have Knocklem, with level 7, or Eidrolon, with a condensed level of 10. However, we also have Mimog, which has the highest run speed of all Pals, and then the Eye of Cthulhu, which has the highest transport speed.
If you need that global boost of +1 Transporting, you can pick yourself up a Wumpo, which is found in the Frozen Mountains to the north.
Farming
There is no best Pal in terms of Farming, as it very much depends on what kinds of materials you’re in need of. To get materials from Pals at a base, you’re going to need a Ranch, in which you can place the Pals.
Here is a selection of Pals which produce useful products:
- Beegarde - Honey
- Vaelet - Crop Seeds
- Vixy - Pal Spheres
- Dumud Gild - Money and High Quality Pal Oil
- Sibelyx - High Quality Cloth
To increase the production of your Pals, you can also place a Cinnamoth for a level boost to Farming.
