Palworld Players Fight Massive End Game Boss And It Almost Goes Terribly

Palworld developer Pocketpair dropped the long-awaited 1.0 update for its popular monster-taming game roughly two weeks ago now, and millions of players on Steam who jumped back in following the full release have found themselves getting bodied by its toughest challenge yet: Panthalus.

Based on the many clips I’ve seen of people trying and failing to beat Panthalus, this isn’t an easy fight. For instance, while raids in Palworld scale based on how many people attempt them at once, the streamers Gingy, Hutch, and Cloakzy still barely managed to best the giant boss fight with their combined man/Pal-power.

So, what might happen if, say, someone tried to beat Panthalus by themselves, alongside a woefully under-leveled team of Pals? We actually have our answer to that question already, thanks to a user on TikTok named Iamcamartin.

Now obviously, the oversized chicken in the clip above wasn’t the best choice of Pal to take on a legendary, mythical being that is capable of bending the elements to its will. However, the allure of catching Palworld‘s new Kyogre-shaped Pal early might be entirely to blame, as Palworld players have reported accidentally wandering over to Deserted Islet, where Panthalus lives, and triggering the fight by mistake.

I say “accidentally,” but triggering the Panthalus fight does require you to track down a bunch of fossils that allow you to teleport to the arena it’s hiding in, so it isn’t as if Palworld doesn’t give you a heads-up about the ass-whooping that’s about to come your way.

And yes, before you ask, players have already made several comparisons between legendary water-type whale Pal Panthalus and the legendary water-type whale Pokémon Kyogre. It’s kind of weird that Pocketpair decided to alter a bunch of Palworld’s pre-1.0 update designs to make them less Pokémon-like, yet added what is very clearly a Kyogre clone as the endgame boss fight in the same update, but whatever.
