Covering the video games industry since 2017, with experience in news, articles, lists, and reviews (and I blame The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask for that).
If you are a fan of RPGs and want a third-person version: Tayná Garcia is a Brazilian journalist (but you can call her Tay) who ended up working with video games after finishing Zelda: Majora's Mask when she was a kid. With more than eight years of experience in the segment, she has been an assistant editor at Jovem Nerd in the past and is currently a contributor at DualShockers and a writer for gaming magazines for Editora Europa. Oh, and she may like Hideo Kojima a bit too much.
Whenever I’m hanging out with friends or colleagues who love horror games, I always find a way to bring up Paranormasight: The Seven Mysteries of Honjo. It is a brilliant visual novel and easily one of my personal favorites, yet I always feel like people don't talk about it nearly as much as it deserves.
The game launched in 2023 and ended up slightly overshadowed by the massive shadow of Alan Wake 2 (which I get it, since this one is also brilliant), but it still remained my favorite horror title of that year thanks to its masterfully constructed story, constant twists, and gameplay that famously breaks the fourth wall.
So you can imagine my surprise and joy when a follow-up was announced out of the blue during the Nintendo Direct: Partner Showcase this Thursday, February 5th.
A New Japanese Tale of Curses and Legends
During the Square Enix sequence of the event, it was revealed that Paranormasight has officially become a recurring IP for the company! And the next entry is coming much sooner than anyone expected, being titled Paranormasight: The Mermaid's Curse.
This new chapter travels to Ise-Shima, Japan, a region steeped in mermaid legends and unsettling mysteries for you to solve.

As expected, players will once again serve as the key to unraveling a complex supernatural puzzle. You will navigate the story by switching between different protagonists and their interconnected narratives, much like in the first game. Oh, and the visuals are incredible as ever, presenting a dark aesthetic that reminds a lot of old comic books.
The trailer’s description also encourages players to “unravel their different perspectives on the case and guide the story to its thrilling conclusion,” and if it’s anything like its predecessor, I know it will be a wild ride! You can check out the haunting announcement trailer right here:
The best part of the announcement was the release date, and it is literally arriving in just two weeks. Paranormasight: The Mermaid's Curse is set to launch on February 19, 2026, for Nintendo Switch, PC (via Steam), and mobile (iOS and Android).

In the meantime, you have just enough time to catch up on Paranormasight: The Seven Mysteries of Honjo. It is an absolute horror gem that is well worth experiencing before the sequel arrives, and it is also available on Switch, PC, and mobile.
