Its corruption spreads relentlessly across the island. As a demon hunter trapped within, you must find a way to escape before dawn breaks. Your mission is to flee the island within 12 hours. But as you reach the coastline in Pass the Fear,a despair-inducing Storm Wall blocks your path. As the monsters multiply, a dark conspiracy slowly begins to unravel…

Fancy weapons, special Weapon Parts, Relic fusion, Tarot Cards, elemental effects, random events… Every pickup is another experiment in weapon customization. Stack up Projectiles and become a “Fireworks Master”, or pour everything into a single shot and melt an entire health bar—your weapons, your rules at Pass the Fear. [Shatter], [Embarkation], [Growth], [Final Shot], [Disruption]… There is no single right answer—only increasingly outrageous combinations. Mix and match them to create Transmutation chains, endless Ultimates, looping triggers, exponential damage scaling, and more. Every time your build comes together, it turns into a wildly satisfying run you will not want to put down.

Choose a character and begin your run, collecting weapons, parts, relics, and fate (tarot) cards as you progress through the acts. It’s a familiar gameplay loop for most roguelite shooters. Where PtF separates itself is through its build variety and boss complexity. Basically, you can carry two weapons, each with different elements in Pass the Fear, unique effects, and variable modifiers, even if the base weapon is the same. Adding weapon parts grants passive bonuses and status effects, while relics provide additional bonuses and mechanics that further shape your build. Together, these systems highlight how massively synergies can impact your playstyle.

One particularly overpowered build came from a tarot card that allowed the primary weapon to trigger the secondary weapon’s effect. It transformed a piercing chain lightning pistol into a four-shot shotgun seemingly forged by Zeus himself, filling the screen with AOE lightning strikes. Moments like this make PtF feel especially rewarding. The further the progression, the more the systems come together, and the more powerful the build becomes in Pass the Fear. Bosses are by far the Pass the Fear’s standout feature, feeling like a true ’90s arcade bullet hell determined to steal every last coin from your wallet. They feature telegraphed attacks and an overwhelming number of projectiles.
