A Kickstarter campaign is launching later this year

The Board Game shows the T-800 riding a motorcycle with John Connor and helping Sarah Connor off the ground while pursued by the T-1000

Nearly 35 years after its release, James Cameron’s action masterpiece Terminator 2: Judgement Day is being remade in board game form. Bitmap Bureau released the short but excellent Terminator 2D: No Fate in December, and Conqueror: Final Conquest creator Cation Arts is launching a Kickstarter campaign for Terminator 2: The Board Game later this year.

One to three players will take on the roles of Sarah Connor, John Connor, and the T-800 as they work to stop Skynet while being pursued by the T-1000. The tactics players choose as they complete objectives and escape ambushes will shape the android’s behavior, and it will level up along with the characters over the course of the game. A Versus mode lets one sadistic player take control of the T-1000, making choices about how best to disrupt the heroes’ plans.

Terminator 2: The Board Game uses a similar noise management system to Awaken Realms’ Alien-inspired board game Nemesis, with players pushing their luck as taking powerful moves also allows the T-1000 to track them down. But while Nemesis is semi-cooperative, encouraging players to kill and steal from each other, the Terminator 2 game relies strongly on teamwork. Players share an experience grid used to improve their characters and progress the story.

The Board Game include the T-1000 with hook arms, the T-800 and John Connor riding motorcycles, and Sarah Connor holding a rifle.

The game will offer three different endgame scenarios with their own campaign objectives, including a multi-stage final mission and a final faceoff with the T-1000. You’ll need to prepare for this battle by visiting locations from the film and having random encounters where you can recruit allies, collect gear, and upgrade your abilities.

Terminator 2: The Board Game heads to Kickstarter sometime in 2026. It joins a host of other board game versions of sci-fi films like The Thing, Star Wars: Rebellion, and Dune: Imperium.
