Pokémon Home is now compatible with Pokémon Legends: Z-A, which means that people who use the service will gain access to Alpha versions of the starter Pokémon.

Pokémon Legends: Z-A uses a drastically different battle system from other entries in the series, taking a more action approach, where movement and timing are important aspects of the design. This has led fans to wonder how some of the new Pokémon will work in the mainline games, as Pokémon Legends: Z-A added a ton of Mega Evolutions.

As of April 2, anyone who trades a Pokémon from Pokémon Legends: Z-A into Pokémon Home will be able to claim Alpha Chikorita, Alpha Tepig, and Alpha Totadile via the game's Mystery Gift feature. Alpha Pokémon are larger than regular members of their species and have better starting stats.

Additionally, anyone who trades an Original Color Magearna into Pokémon Home will be able to acquire one with a different color, which turns white when it transforms into Mega Magearna.

The new Pokémon Home is also in preparation for Pokémon Champions, which launches on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 on April 8. This will allow players to trade Pokémon from the mainline games into Pokémon Champions, where they can battle to their hearts' content.

The Pokémon Champions connectivity is going to be vitally important to Pokémon Legends: Z-A fans, as it's unclear exactly when (or if) the new Mega Evolutions will ever be added to the mainline games, and there's a good chance they'll only ever be usable in Pokémon Champions or future Pokémon Legends spin-off titles.
