In a crossover that feels like it was written directly into existence by a supernatural typewriter, Kinetic Games and Remedy Entertainment have officially launched the “Phasmophobia by Alan Wake” event today, May 12th – a collaboration that is truly a dream come true for horror fans.

Phasmophobias Latest Update Is a Literary Nightmare Thanks to Alan Wake 2 Collab 2

Announced earlier this April at the Galaxies Showcase, this free update, which presents an unprecedented collaboration for Phasmophobia with the Alan Wake franchise, is now live on all platforms and brings a complete thematic overhaul to four iconic maps: Nell’s Diner, Grafton Farmhouse, Bleasdale Farmhouse, and Camp Woodwind.

Basically, as you explore these reimagined locations, the usual ghost-hunting loop gets a bit of a Remedy-style twist: players are challenged to find lost manuscript pages scattered across the scenarios, adding a fresh layer to the original survival experience of Kinetic's indie hit.

A standout detail here is that these pages were actually written specifically for this event by Remedy’s own creative director, the iconic Sam Lake himself, which might even provide some extra lore crumbs for dedicated Alan Wake fans.

Beyond the whole atmosphere, the crossover also brings some legendary faces to the table. Players can now permanently unlock character skins for both the tortured novelist Alan Wake and the lovely FBI agent Saga Anderson. These aren't just simple re-skins, by the way, but feature all-new animations that take full advantage of Phasmophobia’s major Player Character Update from last week.

So yeah, you will be able to see these Remedy icons performing those classic, hilariously distorted movements the game is known for – and I, for one, can’t wait for the memes.

“We’re big fans of the Alan Wake franchise, and knew it would fit perfectly with Phasmophobia,” said Daniel Knight, CEO of Kinetic Games, in a press statement.

Sam Lake also chimed in with a classic word of caution, warning ghost hunters that if they enter, they “might never be able to leave the Dark Place.” Definitely a chilling sentiment that highlights just how well these two horror giants complement each other, and you can check the full trailer for the release right below.

The “Phasmophobia by Alan Wake” event is live from today until June 2nd, so make sure to jump in and complete those community goals before the story ends.

This collaboration is the first of its kind for the ghost-hunting phenomenon, blending the investigative tension of Phasmophobia with the psychological dread of Alan Wake 2, so you might want to grab your strongest flashlight and a thermos of Oh Deer Diner coffee – I have a feeling that we’re going to need it!
