Subnautica 2 is finally here, after years of waiting, and you’d better be ready to completely lose track of time all over again.

Just like last time, you’re stuck on an unknown planet, with nothing but a meager lifepod to sustain you. But we're Openworld Survival enthusiasts, a challenge like that is right up our street.

The first thing you’re going to need on a planet made entirely of water is a way to breathe, right? But getting your first Oxygen tank upgrade won’t be as simple this time. Let’s take a look at where you can find your first few scraps of silver, so you can go on deeper and more exciting dives!

Silver Location

Titanium and Rubber are both needed for your Standard Air Tank, and these can be easily acquired in the starting area. However, to find rare minerals like silver, you’re going to need to go a little further afield.

The easiest and closest place I’ve found so far is directly below the Camp One area, which is northeast of the starting spot.

While there are individual spawns of silver jutting out from the rock here, it also helps to bring a Survival Multitool with you, which only requires 3 Titanium to make. This way you can destroy the bigger nodes for a greater amount of silver.

You can either head straight there from the get-go or keep interacting with the NOA system until it highlights the Camp One location on your screen. Either way, head northeast until you find the destroyed base, made up of dozens of interconnecting tubes. You can either scan everything within for some useful additions to your blueprint menu or simply dive into the caves below.

Beware, a Marrowbreach patrols this area. These fish are pretty dangerous and will follow you incessantly. Either head inside the base or head into the cave systems where the Marrowbreach can’t follow.

You’ll know you’re in the right spot when you notice the bright blue poison-spewing plants dotted around the cave, along with the pink Cabbage Shootroots. Look up on the walls for silver spawns.

How to Use Silver

Silver is an incredibly useful ore that you’re going to be using basically all the time, so stock up while you can!

As mentioned earlier, you can build your first standard air tank using Titanium, Rubber, and Silver. Alongside this, you’re also going to need a good amount of silver to build Wiring Kits, which in turn, build into Advanced Wiring Kits and System Chips. Having a good number of these materials is crucial to advancing quickly in Subnautica 2.

Finally, you can turn 3 Silver into a Silver Ingot via the Processor. If you’re thinking about building a dock for your Tadpole, you’re going to need 1 of these.
