Have you ever heard of a game called The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim? You probably have, because no matter what platform you play on, it's available there. As of Tuesday, you have another option: Bethesda Game Studios has announced that the anniversary edition of the beloved role-playing game is available on Nintendo Switch 2. That makes Switch 2 the 10th platform the game has been released on since its initial 2011 launch on PlayStation 3, Windows PC, and Xbox 360.

The anniversary edition of Skyrim includes the base game, along with all three expansion packs: Dawnguard, Dragonborn, and Hearthfire. The Switch 2 release will also include items for download from the Creation Club and unique items from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

What remains to be seen is how you'll obtain them. These items were also available with the Skyrim Anniversary Edition release available on the original NIntendo Switch, though you had to locate a hidden chest or scan the right amiibo to unlock them.

If you own the Anniversary Edition of Skyrim — you know, the one with fishing — on the original Switch, you'll be able to download the Switch 2 version for free. If you only bought the base version of Skyrim on Switch, however, upgrading to the Anniversary Edition on Switch 2 will cost you $18.99. Newcomers to Skyrim can grab it on the Nintendo eShop.

While the bonus items were already available on the original Switch, the Switch 2 version does bring some welcome updates. Performance, load time, and resolution have all been improved. Additionally, mouse support and motion controls are included. And yes, you can still scan your amiibo.

So get ready to sit down for a long winter's playthrough of Skyrim. Around this time of year, everyone can use a little bit of shout therapy.
