2026's Star Wars Day was relatively light in terms of Star Wars news compared to previous years, with most of the new information relating to Star Wars: Maul - Shadow Lord's season one finale and the upcoming The Mandalorian and Grogu film.
No substantial new information was revealed about the third entry to the Star Wars Jedi series, Star Wars: Eclipse, or the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake, but some promising new details were revealed about another chapter of the Old Republic era.
Roughly five months after its initial reveal at the 2025 Game Awards, new developer Arcanaut Studios has released new information on the creative team working on the first brand-new entry to the Old Republic series in 15 years, Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic.
Arcanaut Studios' Team of KOTOR and Mass Effect Veterans
When Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic was first announced last year, it piqued gamers' and SW fans' interest for not only being a return to the Old Republic during Disney's reign over the franchise, but it also saw the return of KOTOR and Mass Effect trilogy director Casey Hudson.
Hudson is Arcanaut's CEO, but he is also Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic's Game Director, ensuring that the game will likely be an outstanding sci-fi RPG just like his other directed works.
arcanautstudios.comHowever, Hudson isn't the only KOTOR and Mass Effect alumnus working on FOTOR, as Arcanaut revealed on Star Wars Day that its leading creative team will be made up of Dan Fessenden, Melanie Faulknor, Caroline Livingstone, Ryan Hoyle, and Pascal Blanche.
Many of these developers are decorated BioWare veterans, but only three have worked on KOTOR, with those being Fessenden, Hoyle, and Livingstone, with Fessenden serving as FOTOR's Senior Technical Designer, Hoyle serving as Chief Technology Officer, and Livingstone serving as Director of Production and Performance.
arcanautstudios.comAll three of the aforementioned developers worked on the Mass Effect trilogy, during which they were joined by Faulknor on Mass Effect 3, who will be serving as FOTOR's Director of External Development.
Blanche hasn't worked on KOTOR or any ME titles, but he has served as Art Director for Myst IV: Revelation, James Cameron's Avatar: The Game, RuneScape, Far Cry New Dawn, and, most recently, Meet Your Maker, with Blanche now working as FOTOR's Art Director.

FOTOR may be only in the early stages of development, but with this crew of gaming experts leading its creation, FOTOR may very well become the greatest SW RPG since Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords.
