May 2026 is finally here, and with it is a whole month of celebrating all things Star Wars as the space opera franchise celebrates its 49th anniversary and prepares for its fast approaching 50th anniversary in 2027.
New Star Wars content has already been announced ahead of May 4th, Star Wars Day, with most of it being new Black Series action figures from Star Wars: The Old Republic and other corners of the Star Wars universe.
10 Best Games that Feature Darth Maul
There are two sides to every Darth Maul video game. Wait, that's just his lightsaber.
While Lucasfilm is expected to announce new projects and reveal new details of preexisting projects on Star Wars Day, there are still many ways fans can celebrate Star Wars Day 2026 ahead of the event and throughout the rest of the year in the lead up to 2027.
Here are ten Star Wars video games fans of the beloved space opera franchise should play throughout 2026 based on their relation to new Star Wars shows, films, books, and other games, as well as their relation to the franchise's upcoming 50th anniversary.
10 LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga
Revisiting All Nine Mainline Star Wars Films
As mentioned before, Star Wars is fast approaching its 50th anniversary, and the franchise will finally return to theaters later this month after about seven years with The Mandalorian and Grogu, so a perfect way for gamers to revisit the series in preparation for these events is by playing LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.
The sixth mainline LEGO Star Wars game developed by Traveller's Tales, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga has players play through all nine mainline Star Wars films in comical LEGO form in single-player or in local two-player co-op.
Much like the past LEGO Star Wars games, The Skywalker Saga is centered around fairly easy third-person shooting and melee combat with puzzles and a few space combat scenarios, but The Skywalker Saga also features many new elements, such as open-world areas on various planets and fun side missions.
The Skywalker Saga additionally allows gamers to play as almost 400 characters from across the Star Wars universe, including relatively niche characters such as Biggs Darklighter and those from Star Wars shows such as Hunter from Star Wars: The Bad Batch if players purchase DLC.
9 Star Wars Battlefront II
Reenacting the Galaxy's Greatest Battles
The Skywalker Saga does let players revisit the events of all nine mainline films, but it doesn't always allow players to play through every iconic ground and space battle themselves, with many events such as the space part of the Battle of Endor being regulated to a cutscene.
If Star Wars fans really want to take part in the galaxy's greatest battles in intense PvE or PvP scenarios, they'll have to play 2017's Star Wars Battlefront II, which allows players to fight as troops and heroes from multiple factions in first or third-person.
Star Wars Battlefront II does feature a single-player campaign, unlike its 2015 predecessor, set in the aftermath of the Battle of Endor, but its real claim to fame is its multiplayer, which pits players against each other in ground and space battles across 26 planets and space stations ranging from Naboo to Crait.
Here, people can fight as a variety of Battle Droids, Clone Troopers, Stormtroopers, and more while additionally being able to play as iconic heroes and villains on every ground and space map, resulting in chaotic fights such as Count Dooku and First Order Stormtroopers fighting against Anakin Skywalker and Resistance fighters on Takodana.
8 Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
Preparing for the KOTOR Remake
As of the time of this writing, it's still unknown what exactly Lucasfilm will be announcing on Star Wars Day itself, but there's potential for them to announce a bit of new information regarding the much anticipated remake of the RPG, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, especially given the recent reveal of new Mission Vao and Carth Onasi figures.
Even if no new information regarding the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake is revealed that day, the game is still reportedly in development by Saber Interactive, and while fans wait for its eventual launch, new and old Star Wars fans alike should strive to revisit BioWare's masterful RPG.
Set roughly 4,000 years before Star Wars: Episode I — The Phantom Menace, KOTOR has players embody an amnesiac human during the Jedi Civil War with former Jedi turned Sith Darth Revan and Darth Malak waging a galactic war against the Republic and Jedi.
Most of the events of KOTOR may now be considered as non-canon Legends, but KOTOR still features an incredible story, universe, and cast of characters, with it including one of the franchise's greatest twists that still shocks new players of the RPG today.

7 Star Wars: Squadrons
Living the Starfighter Life
Star Wars is finally returning to theaters on Friday, May 22nd, with The Mandalorian and Grogu, but that's not the only live-action SW film coming out soon with Star Wars: Starfighter, a film not connected to any previous SW movie, scheduled to premiere in late May 2027.
While substantial details on Starfighter's plot are currently unknown, it will feature a pilot as its main character. If SW fans want to experience the life of a starfighter pilot, they should check out Motive Studio's first-person space combat simulator Star Wars: Squadrons.
Playable on PC, console, and in virtual-reality, Star Wars: Squadrons has players embody starfighter pilots of the New Republic and Galactic Empire in the years following the Battle of Endor as the New Republic hopes to build a new class of battleship while the Empire's remnants attempt to thwart the emerging government.
Squadrons' campaign is relatively short, but its gameplay in both the campaign and in multiplayer is the most immersive way for players who always wanted to pilot A, B, U, X, or Y-Wings or the wide variety of TIE Fighters yet.
6 Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
The Beginning of Sam Witwer's SW Career
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
2026's Star Wars Day will see the release of the final two episodes of the first season of the hit animated series Star Wars: Maul - Shadow Lord, the latest SW project which has seen veteran SW voice actor Sam Witwer in a leading role.
If fans of the show wanted to see where Witwer's SW career and his long connection with Darth Maul began, they should check out the stellar Legends third-person hack and slash game, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed.
Set in between Star Wars: Episode III — Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV — A New Hope, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed primarily has players embody Starkiller, Darth Vader's secret apprentice, as he's dispatched to eliminate surviving Jedi and Imperial forces alike to keep his existence a secret.
The story and gameplay of Force Unleashed is incredibly fun, with Starkiller's Force powers being able to easily fling squads of Stromtroopers all over the place, while lightsaber combat is critical to take down bosses ranging from Rancors to Jedi and even lightsaber-wielding Shadow Guards.
5 Star Wars Outlaws
Delving into Star Wars' Criminal Underworld
Maul - Shadow Lord features a heavy emphasis on SW's criminal organizations, with the show depicting Maul confronting parts of his Shadow Collective, namely the Pyke Syndicate, Crimson Dawn, and planetary gangs. If players want to delve more into SW's underworld, they should check out Star Wars Outlaws.
Set in between Star Wars: Episode V — The Empire Strike Back and Star Wars: Episode VI — Return of the Jedi, Star Wars Outlaws is a third-person, single-player, open-world action-adventure game having gamers play as aspiring young criminal Kay Vess as she strives to make a name for herself in the criminal underworld.
Unlike many other SW titles, Outlaws doesn't feature any lightsaber or Force-related combat, with Vess having to rely on her blaster, her trusty companion Nix, charm, and stealth to survive dangerous scenarios such as taking part in illegal bets, heists, espionage, and gunfights.
One of the best aspects of Outlaws is its reputation system surrounding the criminal organizations, the Pyke Syndicate, the Hutt Cartel, Crimson Dawn, and the Ashiga Clan, with Vess being able to align with any faction, but her actions will either increase or decrease her reputation with certain factions, resulting in her losing or gaining access to select benefits.
4 Star Wars: Bounty Hunter
The Best Mandalorian Game So Far
Despite The Mandalorian series being one of the most widely praised SW projects Disney has ever produced, there oddly hasn't been a game developed to tie into the series, with Din Djarin and Grogu only making minor appearances in games such as Fortnite and Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes.
While other Mandalorian characters, like Boba Fett, are playable in other titles, the best game to feature the most immersive Mandalorian experience is, without a doubt, the single-player, third-person game Star Wars: Bounty Hunter.
Set in between The Phantom Menace and Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones, Star Wars: Bounty Hunter drops players into the beskar boots of Jango Fett as he captures or eliminates bounties across the galaxy and accepts a bounty to eliminate the Bando Gora crime syndicate and its Force-wielding leader Komari Vosa.
Bounty Hunter allows players to fly around with Fett's jetpack and utilize other Mandalorian gear such as flamethrowers and whipcords, but it does feature many similarities to The Mandalorian and Grogu film, with the game opening on Fett fighting gigantic creatures in an arena and later fighting Gardulla the Hutt.
3 Star Wars Zero Company
Black Ops in The Clones Wars
Two new SW games are currently slated to launch later this year, with one of the most ambitious being Star Wars Zero Company, a single-player, turn-based tactics game similar to the XCOM series of games.
Set during the Clone Wars, the upcoming game follows the titular Galactic Republic black ops Zero Company including former officer Hawks, Clone Trooper Trick, Jedi Padawan Tel-Rea Vokoss, Mandalorian mercenary Cly Kullervo, and former CIS sniper Luco Bronc as they're dispatched to eliminate the Infinite Coil cult.
While gamers can play as these story-based characters, players will be able to create and customize their own playable characters as recruits to Zero Company, such as support-focused Astromechs or Devaronian gunslingers, with characters being able to bond with each other or permanently die based on the player's actions.
In between missions, players will additionally be able to develop and customize a base of operations called the Den and dispatch informants across the galaxy to gain new intel to put battles in Zero Company's favor.
2 Star Wars: Galactic Racer
The Grand Return of Podracing
Star Wars: Galactic Racer
Star Wars Zero Company doesn't have a set release date yet, despite still being slated to launch later this year, but the other upcoming SW game just recently got its release date recently confirmed as Tuesday, October 6th, with that game being Star Wars: Galactic Racer.
The first new SW racing game since 2002's Star Wars: Racer Revenge, Star Wars: Galactic Racer is a racing game playable in either first or third-person set after the Battle of Endor centered around the rise of unsanctioned races via the new Galactic League.
Galactic Racer features a single-player campaign following the loner Shade as they seek revenge and glory on tracks across five planets including Ando Prime, Tatooine, Lantaana, Sentinel I, and Jakku, but it also features PvP multiplayer pitting 12 players against each other in deadly ranked or unranked races.
However, the real stars of Galactic Racer are the speeders themselves, with players able to select and customize podracers, land speeders, speeder bikes, and a brand-new class of repulsocraft called skim speeders, with each speeder able to get damaged or destroyed during races and being able to repaired or upgraded in between races.
1 Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order
Preparing for the End of Cal Kestis' Story
Both Star Wars Zero Company and Star Wars: Galactic Racer are exciting new SW games featuring uncommon genres within the space opera franchise, but undoubtedly the SW game fans should strive to play the most this year if they haven't already is Respawn Entertainment's Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.
A single-player Soulslike game, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order has gamers play as Jedi Padawan Cal Kestis five years after Order 66, as he's forced to reveal his true nature to save a friend, only to wind up being hunted by Inquisitors and helping fellow Order 66 survivor Jedi Master Cere Junda rebuild the Jedi Order.
If fans thought the First and Eleventh Brothers were intense in Maul — Shadow Lord, they have no idea what's waiting for them in Fallen Order when Kestis is forced to repeatedly fight against the menacing Second and Ninth Sisters alongside numerous deadly Purge Troopers trained specifically to combat surviving Jedi.
Fallen Order is arguably the best SW game developed during the SW Disney era and its sequel, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, exceeded expectations in nearly every way. If rumors are true, a third game in the Jedi series may be officially revealed soon and potentially launch next year, since the third game has been in development since 2023.
