The Game Awards 2025: The biggest reveals, trailers, and announcements

As expected, The Game Awards 2025 included a plethora of new game reveals, like Divinity and Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic, and new looks at upcoming releases, like Resident Evil Requiem and Saros. If you skipped the show, missed some trailers, or just need a reminder of what was announced over the course of the three-hour event, we have you covered.

Baldur’s Gate 3 devs reveal next game

Baldur’s Gate 3 developer Larian Studios unveiled its next game, and now we finally officially know what that damn statue was all about. Larian is heading back to its original Divinity IP with a new entry simply titled Divinity. It’ll be Larian's "biggest game ever," according to host Geoff Keighley, and a continuation of the series.

Casey Hudson is directing an Old Republic Star Wars game

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and Mass Effect alum Casey Hudson is developing a new Star Wars game. Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic is a third-person action game in development for Windows PC and consoles. It's described as a "spiritual successor" to the turn-based Knights of the Old Republic RPGs from the early 2000s.

Star Wars: Galactic Racer is on the way

Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic wasn't the only Star Wars game revealed. Star Wars: Galactic Racer was also shown off, displaying high-speed racing on a variety of planets and through wreckages of Star Destroyers as they race in The Galactic League racing circuit. Sebulba — with a white beard? — was briefly shown at the end. Star Wars: Galactic Racer is coming 2026 to PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.

Diablo 4's Lord of Hatred expansion arrives next spring

Diablo 4's next expansion is Lord of Hatred, and it drops on April 28, 2026. According to Blizzard, Lord of Hatred will feature "one of the most comprehensive gameplay evolutions since launch," including changes to acquiring loot, crafting, and endgame challenges. The Paladin class will mark its return, and Lord of Hatred will also include a new class, though its details are still under wraps for now.

Lara Croft returns with not one, but two upcoming games

Lara Croft is back with two upcoming adventures. The first is Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, a "reimagining" of Croft's debut, according to host Keighley. It'll take to Atlantis and will have her shooting up dinosaurs in the process. Her look is a blend of her appearance from the Survivor Trilogy reboot and her classic costume. Expect Legacy of Atlantis to launch in 2026 for PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.

Tomb Raider: Catalyst is the next brand-new Tomb Raider

After the remake Legacy of Atlantis drops in 2026, Croft stars in an all-new game, Tomb Raider: Catalyst. It's further away, expected to release in 2027.

Remedy reveals Control sequel

Remedy Entertainment took to The Game Awards to announce Control Resonant, the sequel to 2019’s Control. It’ll mix things up in major ways, the most notable being that players will control Dylan Faden, the brother of the first game’s protagonist, Jesse Faden. Dylan will explore a nightmarish Manhattan, leaving the confines of the Oldest House from the first game. Remedy will self-publish Control Resonant sometime next year for PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.

Leon Kennedy is officially coming to Resident Evil Requiem

After rumors and leaks, a new trailer at The Game Awards revealed Resident Evil staple Leon S. Kennedy is returning for next year’s Resident Evil Requiem as a playable character. Grace's gameplay will be survival horror while Leon's will be more action-focused. Requiem will be released on Feb. 27, 2026, for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.

Pragmata gets a release date — and will be released on Switch 2

After several delays, Pragmata finally has a firm release date: April 24, 2026. Capcom's sci-fi adventure that blends third-person shooting with puzzle mechanics was also announced to be releasing on Nintendo Switch 2 after previously only being set for PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X. Expect a demo to be available soon.

Invincible VS launches April 30

Quarter Up’s Invincible fighting game launches next spring. Invincible VS is a tag-team fighter featuring characters from the Invincible comics and Amazon Prime series, with the animated show’s cast reprising their roles, like Steven Yeun as Invincible himself. A brand-new original character, voiced by Tierra Whack, will be included on the roster when Invincible VS releases April 30, 2026, or PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.

Solasta 2 launches in early access in March with a stacked voice cast

Baldur’s Gate 3 fans waiting for their next virtual tabletop adventure won’t have to wait long: Solasta 2 comes out in early access on March 12, 2026, for Windows PC. Like BG3, it adapts Dungeons & Dragons’ Fifth Edition ruleset for its turn-based gameplay. Ben Starr, Devora Wilde, Amelia Tyler, and Ellen Thomas were revealed as part of its voice cast.

Exodus resurfaces with new trailer and launch window

Three years after it was announced at The Game Awards 2023, Exodus is back with a new trailer and release window. From former BioWare developers, the sci-fi RPG Exodus is expected to be released in early 2027. It’s a sci-fi RPG starring Matthew McConaughey and, like the McConaughey-led Interstellar, time dilation will play a major role in its story.

The Last of Us director reveals new game

Bruce Straley was game director on the original The Last of Us as well as its Left Behind DLC and Uncharted 4. Straley co-founded the studio Wildflower years after leaving Naughty Dog, and it revealed its debut project Coven of the Chicken Foot at The Game Awards. It’s an exploration-focused puzzle-platformer somewhat reminiscent of The Last Guardian, and it’s currently in development for Windows PC.

Saros is almost here, and Housemarque and Sony shared a new trailer showcasing its bullet-hell, roguelike gameplay and gripping story at The Game Awards. It builds off the gameplay of Housemarque’s Returnal while being a wee bit easier with permanent upgrades for playable character Arjun Devraj and a Second Chance ability letting him revive during a run. The trailer ended with an April 30, 2026, release date, a month later than the March 20 date it was given back in Sept.

The Ascent developers reveal next game

The Ascent developer Neon Giant unveiled No Law at The Game Awards, an open-world FPS and RPG. Like The Ascent, it’ll be unabashedly cyberpunk. Set in a port city, you’ll play as a veteran who thought he left his military days behind, only for trouble to find its way back in his life.

Total War heads to a grimdark future

Henry Cavill isn't the only Warhammer 40,000 nerd in Hollywood. Stranger Things's David Harbour took to the stage to reveal a trailer for Total War: Warhammer 40,000, and he'll also star in the strategy game.

The Witness creator reveals next game

Order of the Sinking Star is next on the docket from The Witness creator Jonathan Blow. It’ll launch on Windows PC in 2026, with a console release expected at a later date.

Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight arrives May 29

Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight will launch May 29, 2026, to make your wait for The Dark Knight’s return to cinemas in 2027 a little more bearable. Like Rocksteady's Arkham series, it blends stealth and brawling in a satisfying action game. Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight will be released on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.

Deadpool comes to Marvel Rivals next month

The Merc with a Mouth is set to join Marvel Rivals' roster for Season 6. Deadpool joins January 16, 2026.

Phantom Blade Zero arrives next fall

Phantom Blade Zero has been eagerly anticipated since it was announced in May 2023, and now it’s almost here: S-Game’s action RPG will be released on Sept. 9, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Windows PC. The new trailer showcases its fast-paced and stylish combat, frightening enemies, and more.

Invoke Studios reveals new D&D game

Invoke Studios is getting another crack at Dungeons & Dragons. As Tuque Games, it released co-op action RPG Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance in 2021 to a decidedly mixed reception. Now, rebranded as Invoke Studios, it revealed its next D&D game, Warlock, set to star Battlestar Galactica's Tricia Helfer and arrive in 2027. Expect a deeper look at its gameplay next summer.

Evan Peters, best known for portraying X-Men’s Quicksilver and his various work in American Horror Story, is set to star in Bradley the Badger, a very meta and satirical game that includes live-action elements. Bradley is the star of a once-popular game franchise, and finds himself hopping through various wink-wink worlds, like Badgerborne, Cyberbadger, and The Last Badger. Expect it to be released sometime in 2026 for Windows PC.

J.J. Abrams and Mike Booth unveil trailer for their co-op action game

Star Wars and Star Trek director J.J. Abrams and Left 4 Dead creator Mike Booth took to the stage to unveil a trailer for their upcoming 4:Loop. From Bad Robot Games, it'll be a four-player co-op shooter, and it'll come to PlayStation 5 and Windows PC.

First look at Lords of the Fallen 2 gameplay

After being announced at Gamescom in Aug., Lords of the Fallen 2 received its first gameplay trailer at The Game Awards. Its predecessor, Lords of the Fallen, also received a new update Thursday, Version 2.5.

Phasmophobia heads to Switch 2 next year

Kinetic Games announced Phasmophobia is set to release on Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026. It’s a co-op psychological horror game where players are cast as ghost hunters investigating haunted locales.

Ontos is a spiritual successor to Soma

Starring Stellan Skarsgård, the horror game Ontos is described as a spiritual successor to 2015's Soma from Frictional Games. It's a sci-fi horror game with some pretty gnarly visuals, judging by what was showcased in the trailer. Expect it to drop in 2026 for Windows PC and Xbox Series X.

John Carpenter's Toxic Commando arrives in March

John Carpenter's Toxic Commando received a zombie-packed trailer at The Game Awards, and a release date. The FPS, which finds you trying to put an end to the eldritch monster Sludge God (sounds gross), drops March 12, 2026, on PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.

Herd sheep in The Free Shepard

In The Free Shepard, Frame Interactive Studios casts you as a dog (hell yeah) herding sheep in what looks like it might be some sort of futuristic or alien world. It'll launch in 2027 for PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.

Decrepit is a Soulslike to keep your eye on

Decrepit is a first-person Souslike from a solo developer featuring ghoulish enemies and a variety of weapons. It doesn't have a release window yet, but you can sign up to playtest it now.

From GPTRACK50, a studio made up of Devil May Cry, Dragon's Dogma, and Resident Evil veterans, Stupid Never Dies launches in 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Windows PC. It's a third-person action game starring a zombie, who can transform into what looks like a werewolf and summon other zombies.

Lenny Kravitz will go toe-to-toe with James Bond

James Bond has a new archnemesis. In 007 First Light, Lenny Kravitz will play an "unpredictable pirate ruler" of the criminal underground in Africa, according to the man himself, who joined the stage to present the award for Best Score and Music.

South of Midnight comes to PS5 and NS2 next spring

While accepting their award for Game for Impact, Compulsion Games announced South of Midnight will come to PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2 in spring 2026. Polygon enjoyed it, saying it "explores dark and unsettling themes, all while reminding us that love, forgiveness, and acceptance help mend old wounds" in our review.

Get a sneak peek at Street Fighter

The cast of Street Fighter took to The Game Awards stage to share a teaser trailer for the film, out next year, while also taking pot shots at the cast of Mortal Kombat 2 (who were not there). It'll release Oct. 16, 2026.

Orbitals looks like Split Fiction, but anime

Coming exclusively to Nintendo Switch 2 next year, Orbitals is a co-op adventure game with a retro anime aesthetic that looks a lot like Split Fiction. You and a partner will try to save your space station home from a cosmic storm, and the only way to do so is together.

Out of Words is a handmade co-op adventure

Co-op tandems are going to be eating well in 2026. A new trailer for Out of Words was shown off at The Game Awards, a co-op, stop-motion adventure featuring handcrafted characters navigating a crumbling world. It will be released on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.

Megaman Dual Override arrives 2027

After an orchestral music performance, Capcom revealed Megaman Dual Override, arriving 2027. It'll be a 2D platformer and release on last-generation and current-gen platforms.

Forest 3 revealed

One of the more unexpected announcements of the night was the reveal of Forest 3, the next entry in Endnight Games’ horror series, a sequel to 2024's Sons of the Forest. The trailer shows an astronaut exploring a spooky world after presumably crash landing on it. No release window or platforms were shared.

Ace Combat returns

The Ace Combat series has been dormant since 2019's Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown in 2019, but that's going to change next year. The next entry in the flight sim series, Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve, arrives in 2026 for PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.

Werner Herzog is telling you to wake up for Warframe

The great Werner Herzog narrated a trailer promoting Warframe at The Game Awards. His dramatic line reading of, "What they still owe to me," has players in the YouTube comments wondering if he's going to voice a character in the free-to-play action RPG, but there's no word yeton that front. Warframe is available on all major platforms.

Highguard

The final reveal for the night was Highguard, a free-to-play shooter from devs behind Apex Legends and Titanfall. It's "very deep in development," according to Keighley, and the trailer showed off exciting gameplay that mixed shooting, melee weapons, and mounted combat. It'll arrive Jan. 26, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.
