The next Kingdom Come game comes out sooner than you think, is an open-world RPG

Warhorse Studios has revealed more details about its recently teased Kingdom Come: Deliverance game

Warhorse Studios, the developer behind the popular Kingdom Come series of historical RPGs, has clarified what it meant when it teased "a new Kingdom Come adventure" last week. You can expect the game to be an open-world RPG and to come out sometime during Embracer Group's next fiscal year.

On May 21, Warhorse Studios teased that it was working on both "a new Kingdom Come adventure" and "an open-world Middle-earth RPG." While The Lord of the Rings–related announcement excited people, the phrasing of the Kingdom Come tease confused fans of that series, as it implied the next Kingdom Come game wouldn't be an RPG like the others.

Tobias Stolz-Zwilling, Warhorse Studios' Communications Director, quickly dispelled those worries during a livestream after the announcement, which was subsequently clipped and shared on the developer's official X account. During the discussion, Stolz-Zwilling clarified that the Kingdom Come game is an "open-world RPG" directed by Prokop Jirsa, lead designer on Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, and that "if everything goes right, it comes next fiscal year."

In short, the next Kingdom Come game should be similar in structure to its predecessors and will launch sometime between April 1, 2027, and March 31, 2028. Stolz-Zwilling pointed out in the video that this two- to three-year wait will be much shorter than the seven-year gap between Kingdom Come: Deliverance and its sequel.

Warhorse Studios is not revealing much else about the newly revealed games right now, though. Unfortunately, we learned in March that the studio laid off its Czech-to-English translator and editor, seemingly to replace their work with AI translations. This third Kingdom Come game will be the first to show us how that move will impact the studio's English-language localization.

If you want to play the most recent game in the Kingdom Come series before its successor arrives, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is available on Windows PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X. The studio's Middle-earth RPG does not have a release window.
