Two Stealth Classics Are Free on the Epic Games Store

The Epic Games Store's weekly giveaways are the pillars of gaming's most sacred art: building a backlog. Every week, at least one game drops, more often than not an interesting title, and it joins your library of fifty games that you are totally going to play next week once you have the time.

Don't let the ever-growing backlog discourage you though, you just know you will regret it if you don't grab these games for free. This week, fans of mischief and murder are eating good, as two of the most celebrated modern stealth games are up for grabs until January 22nd.

The Styx Titles Have Sneaked Up

Life is all about timing, and Cyanide Studio seems well aware of it. Right after dropping a new demo and opening pre-orders for Styx: Blades of Greed, the developers are also making the two previous games available for free in the Epic Games Store.

Up for grabs are 2014's Styx: Master of Shadows, described by HardcoreGamer as "one of the best titles in infiltration genre has to offer," and the deluxe version of its 2017 sequel, Styx: Shards of Darkness.

10 Upcoming Games That Feel Too Good To Be True

Whether it's because of their series' history or how good they look, these games make you want to erase any trace of hype to avoid disappointment.

The Styx series puts you in the shoes of a goblin hellraiser whose hobbies include theft and assassination. It is a much less noble version of stealth gaming than your usual Assassin's Creed or Metal Gear title, but it's that sadistic and occasionally profane approach to the genre that makes Styx stand out so much.

Shards of Darkness in particular gives you a lot of freedom to approach your mischievous ventures due to the open map design and variety of tools at your disposal.

This is a great stealth warmup for the February release of Styx: Blades of Greed, or May's 007: First Light if you like your infiltrators well-dressed.

To claim a game on the Epic Games Store, create an account, then open the Epic Games Launcher. Scroll down to the Free Games Section and look for games marked as "FREE NOW" on their thumbnail.

Click there to enter the game's store page, then hit "Get", followed by "Place Order". To install the game, head over to your Library.
