The developers of the upcoming supernatural soulslike, Valor Mortis, have just announced the game's release date has been delayed. On the bright side, there's a demo you can play in the meantime.
Fall of 2026 is incredibly stacked with top-tier titles, including Marvel's Wolverine, Gears of War: E-Day, and, the biggest hitter of all, GTA 6. With so many quality games on the horizon, finding the perfect release date can be a tough decision, but the developers of Valor Mortis have chosen October 13th as their new release date.
Valor Mortis Gets Delayed But You Can Play the Demo While You Wait
It's a wild time to be a gamer. The sheer abundance of games and the accessibility is mind-boggling to an old man like me that grew up blowing dust out of clunky video game cartridges, and browsing blockbuster shelves every week for new games to rent.
Today, there's a seemingly endless supply of quality games that are free to play, but when it comes to the bigger, most popular titles, they can put a big dent in your bank account, leaving developers of games such as Valor Mortis struggling to pick the perfect release date.
The studio behind Valor Mortis, One More Level, announced the game's delay earlier today, stating, "September has become absolutely stacked with incredible-looking games. We knew this was a possibility, but when you're in a Partner Showcase as we were, dates get locked weeks in advance. We want to give Valor Mortis (and your wallet) some room to breathe. Therefore, we’ve decided to move our release date to October 13th."
This new action-soulslike has been conjuring up a ton of hype, as gamers are eager to experience the combat and intriguing premise. In Valor Mortis, the player will take control of a soldier of Napoleon’s army that has been brought back to life, and now wields corrupted, supernatural powers.
But, the world was not as you remember it, as a strange plague wreaks havoc across Europe, leading you on a journey to investigate the mysterious plague, fight terrifying abominations, and uncover the truth behind your resurrection.
The developers of Valor Mortis have chosen October 13th as their new release date.
For the soulslike fanatics that may have been disappointed at the game's delay, you can play a demo of the game that includes two modified levels.
Valor Mortis Demo Details
The first level serves as a tutorial, teaching the player the ins-and-outs of the soulslike combat system, while the second level showcases a ton of gameplay including movement mechanics and new weapons. "The second part of the Demo is a brand-new level that expands the game’s scope dramatically. The bridge to the Lighthouse has been destroyed and you’ll need to use your transmutation powers to traverse the broken cobblestones. Pulling from our previous Ghostrunner games, the protagonist’s connection to the nephtoglobin plague allows him to grapple, wall run and swing across wide expanses. There’s also a new blade weapon - the Rapier, a new firearm - the Musket, and a new Shield Transmutation. More enemies, more challenges, and more gameplay variety are what we wanted to show in this second level of the Demo."
The Valor Mortis devs have been hard at work polishing the game, using community feedback to identify and fix bugs and performance issues. The game's delay, and the demo, will give the developers one final chance to make the game the best it can possibly be, and according to the devs, the response has been overwhelming. "At the end of the Demo, there’s also a survey. We had over 10,000 responses at the Playtest, which amounted to extremely useful feedback for the rest of our development. We’d love to hear what you think of our game so far!"
Valor Mortis will be available for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S on October 13th.
