Voidling Bound has all kinds of crazy builds you can get if you breed your Voidlings correctly and splice them, but you can only change so much. By considering their general kits and build potential, it can be determined which ones sit at the top, just like the best RPG games.

In this RPG, not every Voidling is created equally. Some have more utility and better abilities, while others have something lacking. All the Voidlings can be built into something relatively good if spliced correctly, but that takes resources you can't get until the endgame.

10 Best AA Shooters You Need To Play

Big budgets are nice, but really, all we want are big guns and bigger explosions.

This list will give you a general idea of how the Voidlings work and the highlights of their build potential. You should play whatever you like because everything is viable, but if you're looking to push some of the greater difficulties and Void Strike levels, a good base is necessary.

9 Kerapin

The Turtle with No Snap

Ability

Details

Primary

Secondary

Tertiary

Defensive

Ultimate

Burst Barf

Shoot 3 projectiles in quick succession.

Explosive Fling

Toss an explosive that damages enemies after a short delay.

Fist Fury

A strong melee attack that damages enemies.

Stand Your Ground

Spawn a protective force field that stops incoming projectiles.

Shellsplosion

Rush forward, gaining increasing momentum and exploding into a devastating blast that tosses damage-dealing explosive charges in all directions.

Unfortunately, Kerapin doesn't do very much effectively, even with some great upgrades. Kerapin just doesn't have the best setup compared to other melee-focused Voidlings. They can keep up, but their overall kit doesn't work quite as well.

The issue with Kerapin is that they lack any real defensive capabilities comparatively. Blocking projectiles is great, but it doesn't do much to stop all the physical attacks, unlike Block.

It does have some build potential thanks to the upgrades you can get, but the lack of defensive capabilities and the secondary fire that takes a moment means it's just a worse version of other options. Someone has to be last, and while you shouldn't forget Kerapin, thanks to its mutations, it just falls behind a bit too much compared to others.

8 Kwipeck

The Beginner Bird

Ability

Secondary

Tertiary

Defensive

Ultimate

Rapid Fire Faucet

Shoot a continuous stream of ooze that damages enemies on impact.

Slurp Rocket

Shoot a large projectile that explodes on impact and hurts nearby enemies while leaving a damage-over-time puddle behind.

Claw and Peck

Dash and slash, executing low-health enemies.

Humm It Up

A quick dash for evading incoming attacks.

Let it Rain

Unleash a downpour of projectiles from the sky, exploding and damaging enemies on impact.

The Kwipeck is actually a great starting point, given the later Voidlings. It's a pretty simple and easy-to-use Voidling that doesn't have too much going. With a solid primary and secondary fire plus a dash evade, the Kwipeck definitely has its use.

The simplicity of the kit is nice, and it's a great way to learn the game, but that simplicity also holds them back. You can still do some wacky things, but the general kit isn't exactly a powerhouse for this particularly good indie game.

The Kwipeck mutations do provide some impressive upgrades, but they can also be more devastating on other Voidlings. They can definitely achieve greater difficulties, but it takes a bit more work. While good to start, they get outpaced by other Voidlings rather quickly.

7 Gilick

The Jumping Lizard

Ability

Details

Primary

Secondary

Tertiary

Defensive

Ultimate

Buck Bark

Shoot a spreading blast of projectiles that damages enemies on impact.

Kinetic Drop

Leap and smash into the ground, creating a shockwave that damages enemies.

Slash And Bash

Dash and slash, executing low-health enemies.

Counter Blast

Gain Block and spawn a damage-dealing whirlwind. On Block, release a devastating blast.

Blunder Streak

Hurl out a powerful damage-dealing wave of projectiles and create a damage-over-time blast zone on the ground that quickly shreds through enemies.

The Gilick has one very exceptional ability that puts it a step above the others. It does make some of the early game fairly easy, but the Gilick is pretty much limited to just that ability in terms of skills.

The defensive ability does grant the easiest and most powerful Block version, which can be really helpful. Unfortunately, you'll only be able to block one attack, and after that, you'll immediately start taking damage again.

The rest of the kit is pretty so-so, and the mutations can make some strong combos. It really just can't keep up against a ton of enemies. For that reason, it's sitting just above the bottom.

6 Gwigoon

The Mischievous Monkey

Ability

Primary

Secondary

Tertiary

Defensive

Ultimate

Bouncing Blast Routine

Unleash a blast that damages nearby enemies. On hit, grants a minion charge.

Goon Squad Roll

Spawn minions that attack nearby enemies with a damage-dealing blast. Minions' health and fire rate scale with their owner's attributes.

Aerial Pull

Shoot a projectile that damages enemies and stops on impact. Use the ability again to quickly teleport to the projectile's location.

Evasive Acrobatics

Scatter your minions while you avoid incoming damage with an evasive cartwheel that grants Invulnerable.

Tumbling Frenzy

Unleash a chaotic swarm of high-damage, self-destructing explosive minions.

While arguably one of the most interesting Voidlings in the bunch, the Gwigoon falls a bit flat thanks to a lack of control. Overall, the kit is interesting and can be really great all around, but it just doesn't have the same control as others.

Your Goon Squad will do whatever they please when attacking, and you have no control over them. They do solid AoE damage and have some versatility, but not controlling the finer points makes it a little hard to use.

It's still a good Voidling, with some fantastic, but specific, mutations. That being said, you can't manipulate the field enough to a certain point, and that can be a detriment against some bosses.

5 Anami

The Fast Fox Mage

Ability

Details

Primary

Secondary

Tertiary

Defensive

Ultimate

Homing Gaze

Shoot homing projectiles at a selected target.

Return Orb

Shoot a projectile that passes through enemies and returns to your character. The projectile may damage enemies once on its way out and once on its way back.

Tail Whip

A swift melee attack that damages nearby enemies and finishes in a tail spin.

Bunny Hop

A quick hop that passes through enemies.

Crystal Spires

Summon 3 crystal spires that periodically shoot obliterating shards at enemies.

The Anami is another interesting Voidling that offers a unique way to play the game. It resembles a mage as your focus is on pushing out items that deal damage and return, taking some intelligent setups for maximum value.

This is first and foremost a shooter, and the general idea remains the same: you need to wipe out enemies quickly and effectively. Anami can do that, but to get the most of what you're doing takes a lot of strategy that might not be possible in the heat of chaos.

It's still a great Voidling, but it sits about the middle of the pack because it's just easier to generate value with the others. Not a bad choice if you're interested in seeing some complex maneuvering, but otherwise, there's something better.

4 Packuran

The Blasting Bug

Ability

Details

Primary

Secondary

Tertiary

Defensive

Ultimate

Laser Fan

Shoot a fan of lasers that damages enemies on impact.

Focused Charge

Charge a dash attack that damages and knocks back enemies in its path.

Gem Strike

A swift melee attack that damages nearby enemies.

Concussive Slam

A short dash that stuns nearby enemies.

Void Maw

Invoke a wormhole that sucks in nearby enemies and collapses into a blast of damage.

Surprisingly simple and effective in the right hands, the Packuran can stay fairly mobile and do great chunk damage, although it can and often times will put it in a dangerous position.

With the right builds, the Packuran can be a dashing menace, and it's really just about allocation points to reduce your cooldown. That's why it's a little closer to the top, because you don't have to dedicate too many resources to making them much stronger.

It's still not quite good enough to be at the very top, but it's definitely no slouch. The ones above this one are there because they do crazy damage with minimal danger.

3 Nimiod

The Tentacle Menace

Ability

Primary

Secondary

Ultimate

Proximity Spark

Shoot out a damage-dealing spark at the closest enemy within a radius that has a chance to apply Elemental Status on hit.

Network Extender

Spawn a network node that connects to your character when in range and responds to your abilities.

Drop-Down Offensive Strike

Slam into the ground, damaging nearby enemies. The slam size and damage scale with the number of charges.

Blink Protocol

Blink a short distance, becoming Invulnerable and Invisible while teleporting.

Instant Diffusion

Swiftly swarm the field with 6 network nodes.

Absolutely one of the funniest ones, Nimiod is a pretty incredible Voidling that is great against basically every kind of enemy. They're a little weird to play, but once mastered they can do some serious damage.

With the AoE primary and the secondary to expand it, you can basically do tons of damage from forever away. It's super easy once you get the hang of it, and with some upgrades, you can make it lethal all the time.

It is a bit slow and lacks that sense of control sometimes, so it isn't quite the best. If you're looking to stay out of danger more often than not, Nimiod is the pick for you.

2 Morfang

The Killer Crocodilian

Ability

Details

Primary

Secondary

Tertiary

Defensive

Ultimate

Claw Fury

Unleash a relentless assault of claw swipes.

Lunging Bite

Lunge and rip enemies to shreds by attacking through them. A short press dashes a short distance, while a long press dashes a long distance.

Whack-a-Mole

Uppercut and apply Float when the ability is empowered.

Burrow

Burrow underground, evading enemy projectiles and melee attacks.

Trench Warfare

Burrow underground and place a trail of explosive mines, each detonating into a swarm of damage-dealing shrapnel.

Morfang has an unbelievable melee kit that makes it a ridiculously good close combatant. Combined with a defensive ability that effectively makes it immortal, Morfang can basically go and do as they please.

The only real lacking part of the kit is that it doesn't have a built-in way to do healing. It's fast, it's strong, and most importantly, it has an ability that can stop even boss attacks mid-animation.

That's why it's so high on this list, even though it's a melee fighter. Morfang also provides some very strong clearing mutations that will help you cut through even the largest enemy hordes.

1 Ur-Sek

Beware the Bear

Ability

Details

Primary

Secondary

Tertiary

Defensive

Ultimate

Bash/Slash

Ur bashes enemies with powerful, heavy strikes. Sek slashes enemies with a series of swift strikes, followed up by an overwhelming final blow.

Bile Up/Swarm Out

Ur casts a line of bile puddles that damages enemies over time. Sek unleashes a swarm of hivelings that seek out acquired targets and deal damage.

Roar/Screech

Ur roars, emitting a cone-shaped sound wave that applies Damage Reduction. Sek screeches and applies Armor Reduction in a wide area.

Blind Charge

Ur and Sek rush down the field with a defensive barrier that stops incoming projectiles.

Ur - Sek Swap

Toggle between controlling Ur and Sek, each with a different ability set. First, Ur lunges, deals damage, and applies Stun to nearby enemies. Then, Sek takes over, lunges, and unleashes a swarm of locusts that damages nearby enemies, then Ur takes over.

Ur-Sek is easily the best Voidling by a pretty good margin. It has two modes, granting it the greatest amount of flexibility during combat, and it's got just a little of everything.

It can debuff, do damage, block projectiles, and stun. Saying that isn't a lot is just crazy, and while it can take some learning to get this one right, it's absolutely worth the effort.

Just like the best shooters, something that can do a little of everything well is pretty much always going to be a good pick. You'll hardly be at a loss in combat, and most of the Ur-Sek upgrades grant you some kind of health.

While having the best Voidling can be helpful, you'll still need to engage in the game's meaningful exploration. To get them, you must find every Golden Egg in Voidling Bound. No matter what Voidling you like, having the tools to improve them will be a very important part of the game.
