Subnautica 2 has a few recipes that have an alternate recipe for making the same item, and Strong Acid is one item that has two recipes you can use to craft it. Strangely enough, the alternate recipe's requirements make it an inefficient option compared to the standard recipe. Once you know which plant you're looking for, then you can essentially automate your Strong Acid production.

Strong Acid is a key item for crafting items in the Electronics category. This means that you'll go through a fair amount of it to keep your habitat running and to power vehicles. That's why you want to set up a way to more-or-less farm the plant needed.

Crafting Strong Acid

Subnautica 2 Necrolei Cyst Strong Acid

The default recipe for Strong Acid uses two Necrolei Cysts. These are little flowers found on the top of plants that look like balls on a set of sticks. You could also say they look like plant-based jellyfish. The nice part is that NOA will send you to the location where you'll find a fair number of Necrolei Cysts early. The specific location is the Old Habitat, which you'll be able to easily find again later after you visit it for the first time.

In the area surrounding the Old Habitat, you'll find plenty of Necrolei Cysts. Grab the flower from the top of them, and you'll be able to craft Strong Acid at the Processor. Since the Necrolei Cysts are plants, you can place them in your Growbed and grow them in your habitat, preventing the need for you to keep leaving to harvest them, which is incredibly useful.

There's an alternate recipe for Strong Acid that uses one Sulfur and one piece of Gold. While this is also made at the Processor, the materials are much more valuable when they're used elsewhere, so I recommend sticking with the standard recipes for Strong Acid in order to be as efficient as possible with your resources.

Using Strong Acid

Subnautica 2 Strong Acid Recipe

Strong Acid is used in a number of electronic crafts. You'll need it for items like the Advanced Battery, Power Cell, Entangled Power Cell, and the Dedicated Core. Most crafting recipes only require one Strong Acid if they need any, so that comes out to two Necrolei Cysts per craft. With that in mind, you can gather the number of cysts you need for your project. Otherwise, it never hurts to collect extras that you can keep in your storage in your habitat.

The icons for Strong Acid and Mild Acid are quite similar with just a color difference, so while you might think that you found Strong Acid in storage chests you can find in other habitats and wreckages, it's more likely that you found Mild Acid instead. The nice part is that Strong Acid isn't that difficult to craft, as the standard recipe requires materials that you can pick up rather early, which you don't always expect to be the case when it comes to items you'll be using to assemble vehicles and keep them running in Subnautica 2.
