Voidling Bound is a fairly unique creature-collector RPG that revolves more around third-person shooter action mechanics than what you might expect of the genre. This means some of the way the game works might end up surprising you if you aren't ready for it.
One thing that hasn't changed is that exploring the game is rewarded heavily. Not only can you find things you might need, like mutagens, but you can also find the very rare Golden Eggs.
10 Best RPGs of the 2020s (So Far)
Halfway through, it's already been a strong decade for RPGs.
This guide will cover where to find all 15 Golden Eggs in Voidling Bound and what Voidlings you'll hatch from them. These are all the same, no matter what, and will provide you with some good Voidlings when you're starting your journey.
What Are Golden Eggs?
To put it simply, Golden Eggs hatch a Voidling with a mutation already on them. This means they'll immediately start in the final evolution state and be a bit stronger than the regular Voidlings you'll get from normal eggs.
This also gives you access to extra mutations for when you get to splice Voidlings. They can be incredibly helpful in making Voidlings that fill out certain niches or lean into some types of damage for incredibly effective outcomes.
You can only find these at certain levels, and the game will let you know when they might be available. If you miss one, it isn't too big a deal because you can always go back through it and find it the next time.
Getting them all is pretty simple, so it is definitely recommended that you grab them as soon as you can. This will also provide you with significantly more mutations to use for splicing without having to evolve all the Voidlings.
Where to Find the Golden Eggs?
The eggs themselves are hidden in several of the maps and can be a bit difficult to find, especially when you're just starting. It's important to explore for these rewards, but if you'd rather not, you'll find all 15 of them outlined below.
Even if you fail the mission after you've collected the egg, you'll be able to hatch it on your ship.
Golden Egg — Centennial Bloom
This is the very first Golden Egg you'll be able to snag on your journey. It also provides a great Voidling for you to use against the coming enemies in the next missions.
If you're eagle-eyed enough, you can probably spot where you'll need to go once you start the Centennial Bloom mission. You can follow the main path, and across the gorge, you should see some of the purple gunk on the far wall.
If you shoot these now, you'll watch them disappear, and a few platforms take their place. Make your way around the gorge until you get through the arena with the orange building and face that same gorge you did earlier.
Head to the right, leading upwards, and follow the path. You should find your Golden Egg there, no problem. This one will give you Kwipeck with the following stats:
Qwebek Kwipeck |
Snowbird — Gain an extra jump |
Agile |
Golden Eggs — Secret Stronghold
These two eggs are probably the easiest to snag, with them being so close to where you spawn for this mission. Finding them isn't exactly difficult, but you could easily miss them if you aren't paying attention.
To find the first one of these eggs, you'll want to basically spin around from where you spawn. Just behind your spawn location, you should spot a small alcove covered in the purple sludge that you can break.
Once you shoot it off, you'll be able to make out the egg even from a distance. The next location is right by the cleansing location with the building on the ledge.
To get the second one, you'll want to head up towards the building or down, depending on how you go about it, and enter through the entrance. The entrance should be unlocked, but if it isn't, just cleanse the area and defeat the enemies to unlock it. Inside will be your prize.
For these eggs, you'll receive a Gwigoon and a Gilick with the following stats:
Telluric Gilick |
Defensive Toxin — On Block, release a wave of projectiles that Poison enemies hit |
Strong |
Experimental Gwigoon |
Researcher — 15% increased research points dropped on kill |
Strong |
Golden Eggs — Search and Rescue
Another set of some easier-to-find ones. These two aren't close to each other, but they're pretty much entirely on the path you'll tread for the mission itself.
The first one you'll encounter will be right after you melt some ice and unlock a geyser that'll shoot you onto the next level. Instead of heading right, turn left, and you'll find the first egg at the very end of the path.
Now you won't have much else to do until you get to the boss area, so just breeze through the level at your own pace. In the very back of the boss area, you'll see a building that will be unlocked for you to enter.
It's easier to just run in and grab the Golden Egg right away rather than wait until after the boss. For all that trouble, you'll receive a Gilick and a Kerapin with the following stats:
Andromeda Gilick |
Bubble Pop — Hitting an enemy affected by Float makes it pop, removing Float and dealing a burst of damage in a wide area |
Tenacious |
Charcoal Kerapin |
Recycling — If your secondary ability has charges, gain a charge on kill |
Agile |
Golden Eggs — Cleaning the Eyrie
One of these is pretty straightforward and simple, while the other one will involve a bit more work to get. The first one can be found in one of the cleansing areas towards the back of the map with the massive fire gorge.
At the back of that gorge, you'll see a building with a large pink container of fluid. Enter that building, and you'll be able to grab the easier of the two.
The second is actually located in the same area, but there are some hoops to jump through first. If you stand at the back of the gorge and face the side you came from, you'll spot a fire crystal up in the air. Hit it a few times and follow the path it carves.
You'll do that a few times and continue to follow the path until it melts a chunk of ice that will reveal the Golden Egg you seek. These two eggs will reward you with a Gwigoon and an Anami with the following stats:
Arching Gwigoon |
Static Collapse — 25% chance to apply a Kill Mark on Static Discharge. Kill Mark trigger, pull in enemies, and unleash a swarm of arching projectiles that seek targets, apply Static, and damage enemies. |
Exceptionally Strong |
Lab Rat Anami |
MutaGenics — 25% increased mutagen drop chance |
Tenacious |
Golden Egg — Subterranean Expedition
Just a single one for this mission, making it a little easier to keep organized. This one is a lot of melting ice, much like the last one, but you'll have to keep an eye out for the right crystals.
Along the main path, you'll find a fire crystal under an arch that you need to shoot. This will melt some ice and reveal a path forward that will have another fire crystal for you to shoot.
Follow that line and pop any purple goop that's in your way until it inevitably melts the ice to reveal your Golden Egg. This one nets you an Anami with the following stats:
Transcendent Anami |
Psionic Dissipation — Periodically apply Disintegration to enemies affected by Float |
Witty |
Golden Egg — Storm Breaker
This one is no trouble at all and happens relatively early on in the mission. Once you grab it you can basically head straight for the boss to finish things off and head out.
After taking the first alien transit station, the floating line things that need to be turned on by shooting the balls, you'll get spat out in an area. Straight in front of you will be plenty of purple goop; shoot it and stick to the left side of the path.
When you make it around the bend, you just need to jump up to the next level to claim the Golden Egg. This one gives you a funny-looking Nimiod with the following stats:
Argon Nimiod |
Sitting Ducks — Deal double damage to enemies affected by Float |
Agile |
Golden Eggs — Navigate the Maze
One of these was a bit tricky to find, while the other was basically right in the open. To find the more annoying one, you'll need to make your way up to the upper level of the map.
This can be done in a few ways, but the easiest way is near a large blue plant structure that you can use as a jumping board to get up to another level. From there, you just need to find the spot where there's a natural bridge, and in the center of it will be the Golden Egg.
The second one is tough to miss as you'll see it just off the side in the underground cleansing area. It might be a little obscured by some roots, but you should see that golden shine if you look closely.
For all that trouble, you'll find yourself with a Kwipeck and Packuran with the following stats:
Gold Nugget Kwipeck |
Golden Goose — 3% chance to drop eggs on kill |
Healthy |
Hellfire Packuran |
Hellfire — Burn damage deals triple damage |
Agile |
10 Best Indies of the 2020s (So Far)
The current decade has shown us that independent developers have nothing to envy in terms of quality compared to any other type of project.
Golden Eggs — Pull the Plug
These are probably the most difficult to snag, simply because they're the most out of the way. The first one is basically right at the start, on top of a large mountain structure.
You'll see the long purple line you have to follow to unlock the next area, and on top of that mountain will be the Golden Egg. You can go to the far side of the mountain and climb up the normal way by using the platforms, or you can just jump up and use the geometry of the mountain to get to the top.
The second one is a bit more annoying. You'll notice a large amount of purple goop around an area near a broken bridge, sitting lower on the map. You'll come across another alien transport station that'll move you right past that area.
Jump off when you get close and clear enough of the goop to enter the cave there. Inside will be the Golden Egg, and you'll be able to hatch a Morfang and a Packuran with the following stats:
Chthonian Morfang |
Corrosive Bile — Apply Armor Reduction to enemies affected by Poison over time |
Tenacious |
Heavenly Packuran |
Mending Breeze — On Frostbite Stun, spawn a healing breeze that moves slowly and heals for 15% of max health after 2 seconds |
Agile |
Golden Eggs — End to the Unknown
For the final Golden Eggs, you'll be pleased to know they aren't exactly off the beaten path, but will require some legwork. The first of these you'll be able to get after reaching the arena, where you'll need to break down a purple barrier to get to the goop blocking your progress forward.
You'll have to shoot the three purple goops that'll create some platforms up to the upper level. When you get up there, to the right is what you need to shoot, and heading left will lead you right to the Golden Egg.
The next one is an arena a little ways down the road, so just keep following the mission until you come to an area with a purple mine near the side. Over the edge, you'll notice some purple goop that you can shoot.
Head down that way, and you'll find the final Golden Egg. The last Voidlings you'll receive will be a Packuran and Ur-Sek with the following stats:
Galvanic Ur-Sek |
Galvanized — On Static Discharge, gain a Block charge for a short duration |
Strong |
Locust Packuran |
Locust Burst — Fear and damage nearby enemies when killing an Infested enemy |
Strong |
That's all she wrote for this one. This great RPG has a lot to offer, and even after gathering all these Voidlings, you're still not close to finished. There's a whole endless roguelike mode to play, so keep training and getting stronger to be the very best!
