As you explore the world of Fallout 76, you will need to gather junk to help you build your camp, craft weapons and armor, and generally survive in the wasteland. While some materials are very difficult to find, like Black Titanium, other items are rather plentiful.

Fallout 76: Where to Find Starlight Drive-in
While visiting Ohio in Fallout 76, stop by the famous Starlight Drive-in.
One of the items you might be tracking down in Appalachia is microscopes. After all, scrapping this item will get you multiple useful resources that you can use to aid you.
There are plenty of locations to find microscopes in Fallout 76, but let's break down where the best places to find this item are.
Best Locations to Find Microscopes in Fallout 76
There are a lot of locations where you can find microscopes in Fallout 76, with some locations having upwards of eleven. This makes gathering this item quite easy if you are willing to travel to multiple locations.
|
Vault 96 |
11 are scattered throughout the inside of the vault. |
|
Enclave Research Facility |
Up to 10 are found inside the facility. |
|
Arktos Pharma |
Up to seven microscopes can be found inside the biome lab. One is locked behind a password-protected door. |
|
Ella Ames' Bunker |
There are six microscopes found inside Ella Ames' Bunker. |
|
West Tek Research Center |
Up to five microscopes are inside the research center. |
|
Morgantown High School |
Several microscopes can be found in the science room. |
|
AVR Medical Center |
Several microscopes can be found scattered throughout the facility. |
There are numerous locations where you can find a singular microscope, but those are not very useful to travel to if you need to gather the materials, since it will cost you a lot of Caps to fast travel.
It is important to note that other high-value materials can be found in these locations, with some of them having items such as Fusion Cores.
Most of these locations will have enemies surrounding them, with many of them being home to robots, scorched enemies, ghouls, and more. Be prepared before searching any of these locations by grabbing legendary gear.
The easiest of these locations to farm for microscopes each time you play Fallout 76 is Ella Ames' Bunker. This location is easy to reach in the Mire and doesn't have harmful enemies inside, making it easy to go inside and obtain all the microscopes without needing to fight for them.

Microscope Materials and Uses
After obtaining microscopes, you can scrap them at any workbench around the map. Scrapping a microscope will get you crystal, fiber optics, gears, and glass.
While gear and glass are good materials to use for crafting items like weapons and camp decor, the real prize of microscopes is fiber optics.
Fiber optics is one of the more sought-after materials in Fallout 76, and it is used for crafting high-tech gear. This includes things like laser weapons and mods.
Thanks to there being a limited number of items that drop fiber optics, you will want to make sure you collect microscopes fairly often, especially if you are someone who uses energy-based weapons.
Another means of collecting all the materials obtained from microscopes is by building junk extractors at workshops around the wasteland. While these are not as reliable, it is a way to obtain more junk for crafting.
