Where to Find Saltstone in No Rest for the Wicked

Whether you are playing No Rest for the Wicked by yourself or with your friends, you will need to gather resources. The resources you gather throughout the game will help you build gear and upgrade Sacrament, making collecting them very important.

One of the more difficult resources to find is Saltstone, which is annoying because everything seems to require it. Nearly every upgrade needs Saltstone, and without it, you won't be able to upgrade your town.

Luckily, there are some ways to help you get Saltstone in No Rest for the Wicked. Let's break down the best ways to get it.

Mining for Saltstone

The main way you can get Saltstone is by mining the various nodes around the map. Unfortunately, not all of them are very likely to drop Saltstone.

Through testing, it appears that the mineral nodes that are most likely to drop Saltstone are those for Iron Ore. Iron nodes are found throughout the Nameless Pass.

The Nameless Pass is the pathway that leads out of the upper section of Sacrament. Initially, this area is blocked by guards until you speak to Lucian.

Once you have access to the Nameless Pass, you will be able to use your pickaxe to collect ore from the various nodes of iron. After running through the area, I was able to collect around four or five Saltstones during each run.

Of course, you can also collect Saltstone from other mining nodes, so you should always be mining nodes when you come across them.

Digging for Saltstone

Another method of collecting Saltstone is by digging. You will notice that there are various locations to dig throughout the map as well.

If you have a shovel, you can dig up these areas of loose dirt to reveal various items and resources. If you haven't received a shovel yet, you can typically purchase one from one of the merchants in Sacrament.

Digging is not likely to get you Saltstone. After testing, I managed to get one Saltstone after around 10 or 20 minutes of digging, making it not a very viable option, but one you can do while you explore and complete quests.

What is Saltstone Used for?

Saltstone, like many of the resources in the game, is used for upgrading the different shops around the marketplace in Sacrament. When you speak to Danos in the main marketplace, you will see that you can complete building projects.

You won't need Saltstone right away, but it is something you should hold onto for future use. The first few building projects won't require this resource, but the second upgrade for each building will require it.

Each of these upgrades typically requires five Saltstone, meaning you will need around 50 of these resources to complete the upgrade paths for the various shops.

Thankfully, since No Rest for the Wicked is in early access, there aren't any additional upgrades at this time, but you may require more Saltstone in the future. Keep this in mind and save as much of it as you can for future building projects and upgrades.
