Shane Limbaugh (He/Him) is a Contributor from the US. While he hasn't been writing about games for very long he has certainly been playing them. His degree in Game Design and Criticism let him better understand the fundamentals of the industry and the games themselves. There aren't many games he hasn't at least put hands on thanks to his time working at GameStop.

MIO: Memories in Orbit has a ton of things for you to find and collect, but many of them will be things like upgrades or items. Some things you may come across, like the Old Fashioned Key, will open up new pathways that give you access to more of the map.

The Severed Fingertip is similar in a few ways, but it does something significantly cooler. Once you have this bad boy, you can activate the Wheel and gain access to the Crucible along with a few other things.

10 Best Metroidvanias For Players Tired of Open World Bloat

Though it can be fun to get lost sometimes, this list features all short and sweet Metroidvanias without bloated world design.

It's arguably the most important item you'll find, and thankfully, it's actually super easy to find. You may have even stumbled upon it at some point, but if you haven't found it yet, don't worry, this guide will tell you exactly where you need to go to snag it.

How to Get the Severed Fingertip

At the bare minimum, you'll need to get access to the Vaults. Once you make it there, you can stop off at the Vaults' spawn point to get a nice spot to respawn from to make things a bit easier.

If you head right from the spawn point and drop next to the wall, you'll find a tube you can enter. Take this tube, and it'll spit you out in a creepy hallway covered in Gloomwater.

Follow that hallway, avoiding all the Gloomwater with Striders, until you reach the edge of a walkway. You'll be looking out at a dark, creepy room, and things are about to get much creepier, because now you need to fall down the hole, sticking close to the wall.

Here are the Metroidvanias with the best maps.

When you hit the ground, you can head off to the right and either fight or avoid the little robotic hands that show up and attack you. They actually have loads of health and give some pretty solid Nacre, which can be helpful if you've got Mel still.

You'll eventually come to a large room with some pretty messed-up visuals, but you can ignore those and grab the fingertip. From there, you just make your way up and open the shortcut to Mel's old shop before heading back to the Vaults' spawn point.

Now all that's left for you to do is run this bad boy over to the Wheel just above the Labs spawn point. Once you get it attached, you'll be able to use the Wheel and, by extension, get the alternate ending.

That's really all there is to it. It's a little simple, but it is definitely an item that ends up hiding from you since it lives down in a deep, dark trench. Now you can unlock some new areas in this metroidvania, which, as everyone knows, is the only reason you explore, to find more to explore.
