Windrose is the pirate survival title that many have been asking for and what other titles have tried to be. It offers amazing base building, a solid number of weapons and armor, and a large sea to explore.

Speaking of exploration, there are a lot of islands in Windrose for you to weigh anchor at. Each of these islands is randomized, so you won't have the same islands in the same locations as other players.

With that being said, the more you search these islands in Windrose, the more you will discover, and the more rewarding of an experience you will have.

6 Finding Buried Treasure

A Pirate's Dream

Windrose wouldn't be much of a pirate game without buried treasure, and there is plenty to be found if you keep an eye out. As you explore points of interest, you can find maps that will lead you to treasure.

After this, it is up to you to track down the X on the map and find the treasure buried on the island that is marked. It is rather exhilarating to hunt down these treasures, and it is a very rewarding experience finding that bare spot of dirt and digging up your first chest.

What makes the experience even better is when you find these spots without the use of a map. It shows that a keen eye can make the difference, and shows you are a worthy pirate.

5 Marked by a Red Cloth

Buried Beneath

Similar to the treasure maps, there are specific locations with buried chests that are marked by red flags. These flags are easy to overlook if you haven't trained yourself to search for them.

If you come across a tent, you will get a note that tells you to find the tree marked by the red cloth. These little scavenger hunts show how rewarding Windrose can be when you take the time to explore.

Not only will you get that extra treasure, but you will learn some more information about those who lived in the camp. Either way, it is satisfying, and something you should always do.

4 Delving into Ruins

There's Treasure Everywhere

One of the many points of interest you can find on these islands is ancient ruins. These sites typically have animals or pirates guarding them, letting you know they are hiding valuables.

Once you have cleared out these foes, it is up to you to track down all the treasures within. Unfortunately, not all of them are easy to spot, requiring you to go on the hunt.

Some treasures are hidden behind doors, while others are buried beneath rocks. Searching for each of these will get you that loot and some bonus experience, showing how rewarding it is to stick around and clear out an area.

Solving Puzzles

Let's talk more about these ancient ruins, because some of them are pretty darn big and full of mystery. For instance, some of them will require you to track down multiple firebowls and place them on their pedestals.

You can easily write these puzzles off, leaving them for someone else to solve, or letting them waste away. Taking the time to track down all the bowls, however, will allow you to unlock an area deeper in the ruins; one that typically has a larger chest to reward you for your efforts.

Taking the time to complete puzzles is always rewarding, and you get that satisfaction of opening the massive chest at the end for that extra monetary compensation.

2 Selling Treasures

Rewarded for Your Efforts

You have explored the islands, sailed the high seas, defeated plenty of foes, and collected many treasures. It is now time for you to be rewarded for your efforts.

This is the culmination of all the work you have put in. Now that you have the rewards, you can head to Tortuga, speak to a faction leader, sell your goods, and earn a reputation with the factions.

While it is nice to explore, and it is rewarding to obtain treasures, it is more rewarding to have all your efforts reward you with massive advancements in the game. It shows that all your efforts mattered.

1 Discovering Your First Special Weapon

Something Special About it

We can talk about finding treasure, getting some silver coins, or delving into ruins, but the moment that I remember the most in Windrose is finding my first special weapon. Specifically, the Rapier of a Thousand Cuts.

There are plenty of weapons that you will find across the islands, but most of them will be uncommon, and if you do find a rare weapon, it won't be amazing.

However, there are a handful of special weapons with strong effects that truly matter in a fight. It is the difference between doing chip damage and taking a chunk out of an enemy's health.

There is nothing more rewarding than getting something like this rapier that will aid you in the game, making it much easier for you to survive.
