Jake brings two decades of experience with him, having covered major industry events, breaking news, one-on-one interviews, and more.

When he's not playing World of Warcraft, he's usually on the hunt for good food and a refreshing beer to wash it down.

Blizzard Entertainment is ready to reveal what's in store for World of Warcraft in 2026. On the surface, this may seem a little odd, since BlizzCon is happening this year. However, today's announcements are more geared to the present. So let's dive right into it.

To kick things off, Holly Longdale, Executive Producer & Vice President for World of Warcraft, greets us with some impressive statistics regarding player housing in World of Warcraft. Spoiler alert: it's very popular.

Players have spent over 4 million hours in their houses, with over 14 million decor items placed during that time.

Longdale also confirms that all future updates for player housing will be driven by player demand. Ion Hazzikostas, Game Director for World of Warcraft, adds that they've been humbled by the success of Player Housing.

Plus, we're going back to Silvermoon City. Yes, even the Alliance.

We did learn, however, about some currently planned updates for Player Housing. Ion mentioned some quality-of-life updates, such as making it easier to float your house. Ion also said that the team is planning on letting players place their companion pets around their house, as well as showcasing their favorite cosmetics, such as player mounts.

There are also plans to introduce some very welcome quality-of-life updates, including the ability to copy community-created items and paste them throughout your home. Ion also adds that they're working on developing easy export and import codes to make it easier to copy popular community designs. To accommodate this, you can expect the decor budget to keep increasing.

World of Warcraft Midnight Roadmap Revealed

2026 WoW Roadmap

There's a lot planned for World of Warcraft Midnight in 2026.

In addition to the typical major updates, such as the 12.1 update, Blizzard is cooking up plenty of smaller updates that still add new, engaging gameplay mechanics. This ranges from Void Assaults, a one-boss raid, and even a WoW-specific version of Prop Hunt.

Players have spent over 4 million hours in their houses, with over 14 million decor items placed during that time.

There's also a new, larger-scale content similar to Delves called Labrinths. Another brand new, stand-alone mode from the team that introduces WoW Remix and Plunderstorm will be released next year as well. Hazzikostas confirmed that the team wants to keep up a steady stream of engaging content of all types, as they've been delivering since the release of the Dragonflight expansion.

There's more to World of Warcraft today than just the upcoming Midnight expansion, as you may have seen above. Two forms of Classic have a lot in store for 2026. First, Mists of Pandaria will see two new phases launch later this year. In the Spring, Phase 4 will introduce new scenarios, quests, and further progression in the legendary questline, among other things. The real attraction, though, is the fifth and final phase of Mists of Pandaria, which features the Siege of Orgrimmar raid and the Timeless Isle Zone. Blizzard confirmed that this will launch in the Summer.

As for the return of the Burning Crusade expansion, Blizzard introduced a roadmap for 2026 that features super streamlined progression, with the entire expansion taking place in 2026. Its launch is on February 5th, with The Black Temple coming in the Summer, and Sunwell Plateau this Fall.

"All classic players across the globe have a lot to look forward to," Longdale adds. Right before she was going to add more context, an off-screen voice shouted, "Holly, wait!" Looks like we won't learn more about this until BlizzCon.

Many Classic WoW fans believe this is the unofficial confirmation of Classic Plus, the long-requested version of Classic World of Warcraft that expands on the original Vanilla expansion without moving forward. We'll have to wait until September during BlizzCon (presumably) to find out.
