Depending on the player, it’s either the kind of game that holds attention for long sessions or one that’s best enjoyed in shorter bursts before returning later. With such a large variety of creatures to discover and breed, taking breaks between experiments can help keep things fresh. Even after many hours of play, there’s still plenty left to discover.

The accessory system is particularly useful, making it much easier to distinguish favorite wormies from those meant to be shipped. Watching a collection of wormies wearing matching cat-ear headbands is also surprisingly amusing. There are only a few minor complaints. The tutorial cannot be skipped when starting a new save file, which makes repeat playthroughs feel unnecessarily slow.

A tutorial skip option would be a welcome addition. The game is an excellent pet-breeding experience with a highly compelling gameplay loop that’s easy to recommend to fans of the genre. Another small issue is that it’s difficult to tell at a glance which undiscovered creatures have available hints in the Wormpedia. Highlighting those entries would provide players with a bit more direction when they get stuck. It would also be helpful to display the base value of an order before it is shipped, making it easier to judge whether adding extra worms is worthwhile and avoiding confusion about how the tip system works.
