Jake brings two decades of experience with him, having covered major industry events, breaking news, one-on-one interviews, and more.

When he's not playing World of Warcraft, he's usually on the hunt for good food and a refreshing beer to wash it down.

I am not a creative person. I am the guy who almost always defaults to the generic character creator in an RPG. If I'm forced to customize a character, I generally hand over the controller to my wife and let her go to town.

With that being said, I fully understand that there are a lot of passionate creators out there, especially when it comes to the WWE 2K franchise. One thing that stood out to me last year was the massive amount of incredible options online, such as wrestlers like Joe Hendry who weren't in the game.

However, creators have felt hampered over the years by various limitations within the games. Thankfully, WWE 2K26 has some big things in store for them: Visual Concepts has confirmed that they are doubling the number of slots for Create a Superstar (100 to 200), as well as doubling the number of slots for Create an Image (1000 to 2000).

It's all part of an initiative this year to deliver "unprecedented freedom" in WWE 2K26, allowing fans to design the Superstars, arenas, and more.

Another way WWE 2K26's customization options are improving is through custom entrances.

Even I'm guilty of tinkering with making a custom entrance for my custom MySUPERSTAR, but I felt limited by the options last year. It's a common critique fans have, and Visual Concepts is listening.

This year, the team is adding preset animations that can be triggered at various parts of your entrance, pyro, and more. The goal is to add "more flavor to make each entrance your own."

Building on that motif, you'll also be able to customize the look and feel of the start of a match. Instead of always getting right into the thick of things, you can set things up to, for example, play off the emotion of the crowd, ala Rock vs Hogan WrestleMania X8. It's all about delivering a look and feel to WWE 2K26's presentation that makes it feel less like a video game and more like the actual WWE product.

With that in mind, there's another tweak this year that should go over well. AI-controlled characters are going to start performing their movesets in sequences that mimic what they do on television. For example, whenever John Cena would perform a Five Knuckle Shuffle, he'd transition into an AA immediately after. This should now be reflected in the game, preventing those awkward moments where a move you're expecting doesn't happen. You'll also be able to use this in Creation Suite for custom wrestlers.

The name of the game this year in WWE 2K26 is about listening to fan feedback and giving players what they want. Giving players more freedom to let them create what they want is a big step in the right direction.

WWE 2K26 will release on March 13th for PlayStation, Xbox, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.
