Xbox Tries To Shut Down Rumors Of A GTA 6-Fueled Fable Delay

To delay Fable or not to delay Fable, that is the question

It’s a packed year for Xbox. Forza Horizon 6 comes out in May, followed at some point by Halo: Campaign Evolved, Gears of War: E-Day, and Fable. There are already rumors suggesting the Halo remake could arrive as early as June or July, leaving the other two games for late summer/early fall and deeper into the 2026 holiday season.

With GTA 6 slated for mid-November, any game coming out near the end of October or early December could have its momentum prematurely stalled. Giant Bomb co-host Jeff Grubb recently said that he heard Fable was facing potential delays, and that concerns about the impact of coming out too close to GTA 6‘s release window could incentivize Xbox to delay it until early 2027. That could allow more time for polish but would also add even more costs to a project that’s spent way more time than expected in development.

In response to the speculation, the Fable X account reiterated the open-world RPG’s current “autumn 2026” release window. The goal is obviously to hit all four major Xbox franchises ahead of the 25th anniversary of the original Xbox’s release on November 15. We’ll have a clearer idea of the platform’s 2026 release calendar after its summer showcase in June.

Metro 2039 is real and getting a dedicated Xbox direct on April 16

The post-apocalyptic shooter wasn’t previously announced and Microsoft just tweeted it out. “This Thursday, April 16, we’ll be debuting Xbox First Look: Metro 2039 with 4A Games & Deep Silver – a digital-only broadcast offering a world-premiere look at the next title in the beloved post-apocalyptic first-person shooter series,” the company announced on Monday.

Metro 2039 is the fourth game in the sci-fi survival series based on Dmitry Glukhovsky’s novels. It’s been seven years since the release of the last entry, Metro Exodus, which arrived three years before Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. 4A Games is headquartered in Malta but has satellite offices in Kyiv.

Age-gating comes to Roblox

Content access for the massive game-making platform will get segregated into three buckets, the company announced on April 13. Beginning next month, U.S. players aged 5-8 will be on Roblox Kids, players aged 9-15 will be part of Roblox Select, and players 16 and above will be on regular old Roblox.

In addition to certain chat restrictions and defaults, the new account types will correspond to content labels for maturity level including Minimal, Mild, Moderate, and Restricted. It all comes as a reaction to mounting scrutiny on the social media phenomenon following concerns about child safety and online predators.

Hideo Kojima’s Physint is trying to cast someone with a thick German accent

New details about the game come from MP1st which got hold of a casting call sheet. It’s for characters who will reportedly be on a hijacked bus, including a “mother holding her newborn baby, five teenagers of different ethnicities, two other male passengers, and lastly, an antagonistic character with a German accent.” That last role apparently describes the ideal actor as channeling “Mads Mikkelsen in Hannibal but with flair.”

Mikkelsen appeared in Death Stranding and it seems that at least someone with his vibes will be appearing in Physint. This person will need to be “confident in a psychotic way,” though it’s unclear if this is a large villain role or just a side character. Not that Kojima games really have throw-away roles. We know basically nothing else about the stealth-based action game other than that it’s probably a mid-gen PlayStation 6 release at best.

Game regulator accidentally doxes developers

Indonesia’s official government platform for classifying and regulating games had a website security issue that was recently discovered and reportedly allowed people to see everything from developer emails to video footage of upcoming games like 007 First Light. A Reddit user explained how the leak happened:

“The API the site uses is publicly available so anybody with the knowhow can scrape it and glean information. Even though they are ‘hidden’ on the surface level and can’t be searched for directly on the site itself, there’s no limitations in place to stop people from viewing pages for unreleased or hidden games entered into this database if they have the URL for those pages.”

Stop Killing Games is lobbying for pro-preservation legislation in California

The movement is supporting legislation drafted by California State Assembly member Chris Ward. The new framework “requires companies that sell server-connected video games to notify consumers before ending support and to provide clear information about how the game will function once it reaches ‘end of life,'” reports Rock, Paper, Shotgun. “The bill also prohibits companies from selling the game within two months of its end-of-life date and requires them to either replace the game or provide a plan allowing users to continue running it after support ends.”

PowerWash Simulator loses some big DLCs

FutureLab has confirmed the chillout game’s Tomb Raider and Final Fantasy VII Midgar Special Packs will no longer be available starting May 19. Everyone who’s already claimed them by then, however, will be able to continuing playing with them.
