TBH: Task Bar Hero condenses some of the best parts of RPGs to offer a miniature adventure straight from your taskbar. It's full of combat, classes to mix and match, along with over 500 items to craft your ideal build. As an idler, the journey automatically continues, even when you're away, so the grind to get stronger never stops.

February 2017 |
As the name suggests, Weapon Shop Fantasy is a shop simulator intertwined with RPG elements. The gameplay loop involves hiring staff to do jobs around the store, each of which possesses abilities and skills to develop. This is combined with combat and auto-battler journeys, which result in a rather satisfying way to unlock skills, collect materials, and craft to become even more powerful.
Weapon Shop Fantasy has over 200 pieces of equipment and gear waiting to be crafted, alongside 200 skills and over 70 monsters to defeat. During crafting, there is luck involved, which is the best stat, making it the hardest attribute to level up. Once you grind it, you can craft unstoppable weapons to feel incredibly dominant, especially when enchanting mechanics are added to the mix.

Taskbar Looters is a free-to-play game like TBH: Task Bar Hero, all about pixel animals. The title strips back the gameplay by seeing you recruit animals that gather loot by breaking open chests on your desktop. Gather coins and stars from these chests and spend those coins to recruit more looters and use stars to upgrade them.
Whether you want to help your animals find chests, watch them at work, or click on your animals to see their distinct reactions when interacted with, Taskbar Looters is a simple yet effective way to occupy your desktop while you go about your day-to-day activities.

If you are on the hunt for games like TBH: Task Bar Hero, but want a greater challenge, Dragon Cliff incorporates strategy elements. This semi-idle RPG game has up to 25 adventurer classes to choose from, each with unique abilities and diverse itemization, allowing for freedom in character builds. The amount of depth in Dragon Cliff enables you to customize and expand both your strategy and town.
The combat you will engage in against in excess of 200 kinds of monsters as you traverse seven different maps is turn-based. The best aspect of the combat is that it's snappy and doesn't require you to micromanage every turn due to charging turns and spending Rage Points.

Developing spells to become a powerful wizard is the focus of Orb Creation, an incremental puzzle where you recreate a world using magic. It includes resource gathering, acquiring upgrades, and a whole lot of experimentation as you craft custom spells. From spells, artifacts, rituals, glyphs, and more, each aspect of the game is random, offering deep replayability.

You won't see me for a week after Terraria updates.
Once you've restored the world around you and completed your objectives, Orb Creation has New Game+, so you can start a new run with more random challenges and prestige upgrades. This game may require more participation than your traditional idler, but the expanding gameplay and incremental systems truly shine compared to similar genre entries.

A surprisingly cute RPG Idler, Book of Fei sends you on an adventure through different books to defeat the Demon King and learn the truth about its realm. The heroes under your command battle, work part-time jobs to earn gold, and level up to unlock stronger classes.
The combat here adopts the tower-defense wave template, with each hero possessing a defense tablet tree. Equipment has increasing quality tiers, combined with a badge system that implements more stat bonuses. With 20 difficulty tiers in relation to dungeons and an endless defense mode, Book of Fei provides an addictive idle challenge across the main story, auto harvest, and auto work for gold.

Although you're exploring an unsettled galaxy, I would consider Vanguard Galaxy a relaxing idler. In this procedurally generated world, corporate ideals and the galaxy's population are in conflict, and you can align yourself with a corporation or establish your own path. Since the galaxy reacts to your actions, there are so many ways to play Vanguard Galaxy and put your crew on the radar.
Upgrade your captain and crew, so you're ready to face the darkest parts of the galaxy. Collect loot, mine asteroids, and trade as you complete missions throughout the story. You can buy new ships and upgrade them, while enabling autopilot will instruct your ship to do basic tasks without prompting.

Another magical, spell-binding game like TBH: Task Bar Hero, Idle Wizard has plenty of RPG elements and a compelling progression system to dive into. Begin your journey as an apprentice wizard and choose your classes, equipped with all that you need for your wizardry endeavors.
As you'd expect, casting spells and pulling off combinations is important to your progression and boosting profit. However, my favorite mechanic in Idle Wizard is the use of pets. They act as companions you can summon to assist you in gathering the Mana you need to cast spells, and you can level up the experience of your pet during your run.

Clicker Heroes is incremental eye-candy where numbers surge, monsters explode into gold, and you deal some serious damage. Featuring a roster of 35 heroes you can upgrade and unlock abilities for, you can slay waves of monsters across a variety of zones, each of which contains stronger enemies.
The game has rewarding mechanics such as Ascension, resetting your progress in exchange for permanent powers and valuable Hero Souls. If you want a free-to-play game like TBH: Task Bar Hero where you can collect mountains of gold and grow your damage output with a band of interesting heroes, you can't go wrong with Clicker Heroes.

April 2024 |
As one of the best idle games, Rusty's Retirement is a farming simulator with charming pixel art and a relaxing nature. The gameplay focuses on taking care of your farm, including planting crops and watching Rusty care for and harvest them. Along the way, you will unlock new crops to diversify your farm and expand your plot by producing and selling biofuel, as well as stationing upgradable robots to help with farm life.
Although Rusty's Retirement doesn't have combat like TBH: Task Bar Hero, its cozy mechanics are akin to a bite-sized version of Stardew Valley, which incorporates resource management and a range of upgrades that can still see you accumulate huge profits.
1 Soda Dungeon 2
Dungeoning Through Dimensions

AN Productions, Poxpower |

Armor Games Studios |
|
July 2020 |
Perhaps one of the most vibrant dungeon crawlers out there, Soda Dungeon 2 tasks you with going up against monsters defending the Dark Lord in turn-based battles, and returning with loot to make upgrades to your tavern, town, gear, and team. In fact, your home base consists of building a blacksmith, wizard store, arena, and more areas used to elevate your party.
A stand-out feature in Soda Dungeon 2 is the ability to create custom behaviors for your party, allowing for greater control over what your characters are doing, rather than defaulting to basic actions while you're leaving them to their own devices.
