10 Things We Hope to See in the Resident Evil Requiem DLC

3 hours ago 3

To say that Resident Evil Requiem was received well would be an understatement — especially considering that it became the fastest selling Resident Evil title to date, completely blowing previous entries out of the water.

And the best part is? Capcom isn't done with it yet.

10 Reasons Leon Kennedy Now Feels Like the Face of Resident Evil — Even Though He Isn’t

If we want to get technical, Leon S. Kennedy isn't the main character of Resident Evil... but he sure feels like it.

Not only did we finally get a Photo Mode added, but it was also recently announced that there will be additional story expansions (DLCs), without revealing who it's going to focus on. That being said, there are a lot of unanswered questions in Resident Evil Requiem, and it's left fans speculating what the DLC is going to focus on exactly.

While we don't know for sure, there are a few things that we definitely want to see.

This article will contain spoilers for Resident Evil Requiem.

10 What Comes Next?

Elpis Changes the Game

Resident Evil Requiem Callbacks Zeno Holding Vile

By the end of the game, we learn that Elpis, Ozwell Spencer's last creation, is actually an antiviral, working to cure the very viruses and infections that he created in the first place. It's his way of saying sorry for the millions of casualties he caused.

We also see that there are surviving vial(s) of it, and Umbrella wants nothing more than to get their hands on it. We don't know what their plan is for it, but given their track record, it's nothing good. Elpis is a way to end the need for B.O.W.s ... but we all know for a fact that if there's a will, there's a way, and Umbrella is full of will.

So, with Elpis in mind, what's going to happen when it comes to biological warfare? Something tells me, especially with the Connections, there isn't going to be an end to it, but an evolution, and it's probably going to be horrifying. We were expecting a weapon, and I have a sneaking suspicion that Umbrella is going to find a way to weaponize it, putting Spencer's visions to shame.

As Victor Gideon said best: "Instead, he gave us anarchy."

9 More Difficulties!

Something Between Standard and Insanity

Resident Evil Requiem Grace stealth takedown

When you start, there are only three difficulties, all of which are a blast: Casual, Standard (Modern), and Standard (Classic). After you beat the game, you unlock the Insanity difficulty, and that's about it when it comes to difficulty variety.

While all difficulties are fun in this game, I wish there was something between Insanity and Standard (Classic). Insanity is obviously incredibly hard, borderline too much so, and both Standard difficulties are simple once you know what you're doing. If players want to be challenged, but not overwhelmed, there isn't really a difficulty that fits.

Silent Hill f had added a Casual mode after release, so it's definitely possible for an extra difficulty to be patched in after a game's release; I just hope it's something that's on the docket.

8 Other Raccoon City Survivors

Raccoon City Syndrome Isn't Exclusive to Leon or Sherry

The Investigation Report from Resident Evil Requiem, noting the death of M. Warren.

Throughout the game, we see a new infection take hold of Leon S. Kennedy: Raccoon City Syndrome. He's not the only one with it, either. All survivors of Raccoon City have developed this T-Virus variant, including another legacy character, Sherry Birkin. That's it, though, we don't actually meet anyone else racing against the clock in the same way.

It would be really fascinating if the DLC actually was going through someone else's struggle with Raccoon City Syndrome, especially when we know other legacy characters have some kind of infection brewing.

If you just beat Resident Evil Requiem and are looking for games that will give a similar experience, we've got you covered.

In all honesty, it could be anybody. We're just itching to see how this is impacting other characters that we know and love. Many fans would be happy with just about anyone.

Yes, this is another day of me begging for more Jill Valentine content. I miss my wife.

7 Co-Op Mode

It Can be a Mini-Campaign

Resident Evil Requiem Callbacks Hound Wolf Squad Member

One of my favorite things about Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6 is the opportunity for co-op, whether it's local or online. The more modern titles don't have that feature, and I honestly miss it. It's always been a blast to play these games with another person.

Since Capcom is talking about a couple DLCs (plural), I'd love to see one of them include the option for multiplayer; even if it ends up being the also-announced mini-game mode. That would be tons of fun, too.

What I'd really love to see is a campaign surrounding the Hound Wolf Squad or H.U.N.K.'s team, because not only would that make sense for Requiem itself, but it would also be something that appeals to the more action-oriented audience. Then again, F.E.A.R. has shown us exactly how scary a shooter game can be, so it can still be horror first.

Regardless, everything is better with friends, and Requiem would be an absolute blast to play with someone else.

6 More Time with Victor

We'd Like Some More Origins

Resident Evil Requiem Leon Victor

Victor Gideon is probably one of my favorite Resident Evil villains, quickly rising the ranks as one of the coolest characters in the whole series, too — Antony Byrne's performance was clearly magical for Victor's character. Naturally, we want more of that magic.

Yet, we get very little time with him. We get a good amount of information about who he is — more like what he is — what he does, what his motives are, all that jazz. We have a solid wiki of info, but we don't have a lot about where he came from. Obviously, he used to work with Umbrella and idolized Ozwell Spencer, but that's about the extent of his origin story.

Victor had to pull a lot of strings for the events of Requiem to unfold, and it would be interesting to see some of that, perhaps through the perspective of someone else investigating.

Of all the things we hope to happen, this is one of the least likely, but it would be really nice nonetheless.

5 Where is Everyone?

What are They Doing?

A photograph of Rebecca Chambers in a sporty outfit, sat with a basketball in her lap.

A lot of fans went into Resident Evil Requiem ready to meet many legacy characters that we know and love, with Leon being the one we play. However, we actually only see Sherry, H.U.N.K., and if you want to get technical, Alyssa. Everyone else is a mere mention or an Easter Egg somewhere.

Jill, Claire, Ada, and even Rebecca are essentially M.I.A., and it's just weird when you know that none of them are the type to sit still and do nothing, especially when it comes to something like Elpis or even Raccoon City Syndrome.

10 Resident Evil Requiem Systems That Quietly Reward Caution Over Aggression

Being careful used to be optional in Resident Evil, really — but not in Requiem.

Raccoon City Syndrome aside, what are they even doing? We know what Chris had been up to through the events of Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil Village, but we're in the dark about essentially everybody else. For many characters, their last canonical appearance was Death Island, a decade prior the events of Requiem.

We don't have to see them or play them all, but we would just like to know what's been going on in their worlds.

4 More of Raccoon City

How About Areas We Haven't Seen Yet?

Resident Evil Requiem Leon Raccoon City

Returning Raccoon City was a main selling point of the game, and it's fun to play that first time around, but it quickly becomes boring after a while, especially since you actually don't revisit many areas. Sure, it's a good thing the game isn't holding our hand through nostalgia bait, but it also ended up making Raccoon City feel just ... empty.

Yes, there was the missile, but clearly, it did not kill everything there. A lot of us veteran fans were excited to come to the ruins of Raccoon City and soak it in, but there was very little that we could actually appreciate. We want there to be more to appreciate!

I'm hoping one of the DLCs focuses a bit more on Raccoon City, even if it's somewhere we haven't been yet; you can find tickets to the zoo with Barry's scavenger hunt, after all, so why not take a trip there post-outbreak?

Surely, there wouldn't be horrific monstrosities waiting for us, right?

3 What was Going on with the BSAA?

Internal Disagreements ... Sure

RE Requiem Crate 2

Many of us had a general belief about the BSAA: that they're basically good guys who want to prevent bio-terrorism around the globe. What we had seen of them so far didn't have us believing otherwise, especially if someone like Chris Redfield was fighting for them.

However, as we play through Requiem, that belief is challenged — and we see that some of the BSAA had some ulterior motives.

Elpis is incredibly popular, it seems, and what the BSAA wanted to do with it remains a mystery. They were here before Leon or anyone else, but they clearly didn't find it, and they clearly didn't continue. That is, until the post-credits scene, where we see a group of mercenaries after they wiped out a BSAA squad.

The game is hinting at corruption within the BSAA, and that would be absolutely fascinating to see unfold in the DLC.

2 More Alyssa and Grace

Preferably Without the Trauma

Resident Evil Requiem Alyssa Holding Grace

I loved the section in Wrenwood Hotel where we played as a young Grace with her mother, Alyssa. Not only is it just incredibly well-acted, it's also just horrifying in a spooky, haunted house kind of way; and it made me just really want to see more of both of them.

Both Grace and Alyssa are interesting and amazing characters, and it's a shame that we get so little time with Alyssa. While we do get plenty of time with Grace on her own (we'd love more, though, Grace is an incredible protagonist), there was something special about the brief time we had with the two of them.

Resident Evil Requiem: 10 Characters We Hope We'll See in the DLC

If we only get to see one or two of these characters in Resident Evil Requiem's future DLC, we'll be happy.

It doesn't even have to be a campaign where it's about Grace as a teenager, it could even be separate campaigns of individual investigations, perhaps Grace's report coinciding with things her mother wrote about the Raccoon City Incident. Or it could even be something along the lines of Grace having flashbacks with her mom while she's trying to raise Emily. It's still more content of the both of them.

Either together or in separate campaigns, we just want to see more of the Ashcrofts.

1 Mercenaries Mode

Please be the Mini-Game Mode!

Resident Evil Requiem Leon HUNK

Perhaps, above all else, we're hoping that we'll get a Mercenaries Mode with the new content coming to Resident Evil Requiem. Many of us are already theorizing that it's going to be the mini-game mode that Capcom had mentioned, and I'm really hoping that's what it ends up actually being.

Many fans were surprised that Mercenaries wasn't included in Requiem, especially given its popularity, so we're hoping that it's going to come as a bonus. The main menu looks like it's missing something, after all, so we're hopeful that we'll see one of our favorite arcade-style campaigns make a re-appearance.

The maps are pretty self-explanatory already: Rhodes Hill Chronic Care Center, Raccoon City, R.P.D., and the ARK Laboratory. All of which were a blast to play in the game, and will equally be a blast in Mercenaries.

If Mercenaries Mode is genuinely coming, I'm going to cross my fingers and hope for every single Resident Evil character to be unlockable in this one.
