There are solid deals for beginners and experts alike
Graphic: Corey Plante/Polygon | Source images: Wizards of the CoastAmazon’s Spring Sale is here, and if you’ve been looking for an excuse to stock up on Magic: The Gathering cards, this is a good one. From starter kits to Commander decks and booster boxes, a bunch of products are seeing solid discounts — the kind that don’t come around all that often, outside of Black Friday.
We’ve rounded up the best Magic: The Gathering deals worth your time below, from slight discounts to the absolute steals you should consider putting in your cart right away.
Edge of Eternities Play Booster Box
Image: Wizards of the CoastEdge of Eternities was arguably 2025’s best in-universe set and the first ever to be firmly rooted in science fiction. While the 6% markdown barely moves the needle, you can hope and pray to find stellar cards like Ouroboroid.
Tarkir: Dragonstorm Play Booster Box
Image: Wizards of the CoastDo you really like dragons and want to get some more cardboard for your Magic collection? Then welcome to Tarkir: Dragonstorm, the in-universe set released in April 2025. With only a 10% markdown, you’re still looking at a fairly high price point. Expect a lot of dragons that emphasize three-color strategies representing the plane’s dragon clans.
Secrets of Strixhaven Play Booster Box
Image: Wizards of the CoastSecrets of Strixhaven won’t be released until April 24, but Amazon already has a decent 10% discount on play booster boxes. The official preview season for the set begins March 31, and some leaks are already beginning to trickle out. Story-wise, this in-universe set returns to the plane of Arcavios and the magical college of Strixhaven. Expect lots of wizards!
Blight Curse Commander Deck
Image: Wizards of the CoastJanuary’s Lorwyn Eclipsed set included two very different preconstructed commander decks. Blight Curse is all about weaponizing the blight mechanic and -1/-1 counters to nerf opponents’ creatures, or weakening your own to trigger other combo effects. It’s fun to play with two different commanders and really feels like you’re forcing your opponents to trudge through a toxic swamp. At 18% off, it’s a solid pickup for anyone who jives with black-red-green decks like this.
Foundations Jumpstart Booster Box
Image: Wizards of the CoastIf you’re a newcomer looking to make the plunge into the multiverse of Magic: The Gathering, there is no better place to start than the Foundations Jumpstart booster box. It’s the 2024 core set that will remain legal in Standard game formats through 2029. The set has a ton of very powerful staples that even seasoned players wind up using because they synergize well with all sorts of strategies. And at 20% off, that’s a hard discount to beat.
Lorwyn Eclipsed Play Booster Box
Image: Wizards of the CoastYou can sometimes find the Lorwyn Eclipsed play booster box for cheaper from other vendors, but $118 is a notable 28% markdown from Amazon’s typical list price for what remains 2026’s best Magic set — at least so far. Typal strategies are very prominent in Lorwyn Eclipsed, meaning that you get a lot of synergy by strategizing around specific creature types, particularly elf, goblin, merfolk, or kithkin (a kind of hobbit-looking species).
Dance of the Elements Commander Deck
Image: Wizards of the CoastThe other Lorwyn Eclipsed commander deck, Dance of the Elements, gets an even better deal at 31% off. It’s certainly not for beginners — it leverages all five colors to summon huge elementals to then sacrifice and duplicate them to capitalize on enter-the-battle (ETB) triggers — $35 for a deck this good is a bonafide steal. This deck is powerful right out of the box and very flashy. If you can juggle all of the moving parts and keep your head straight, it’s a great one to play.
Avatar: The Last Airbender Beginner Box
Image: Wizards of the CoastArguably the best way to learn how to play Magic, this beginner box shipped as part of 2025’s Avatar: The Last Airbender set — the third best-selling set of all time. Not only does it feature great art from the beloved animated series, but the mechanics are thematically resonant and fit really well into the wider game. The infamous Badgermole Cub remains one of the most commonly used cards at the professional level. While you won’t get one as part of this set, you will get tutorial decks and eight half-decks you can mix and match to experiment with different playstyles.
