91-Year-Old ‘Game Grandpa’ Crushes Resident Evil 9 Without A Walkthrough

The internet has a new favorite gaming grandparent. Crimson Desert needs to fix its mounts. And Sony says so long to an EV concept car with Honda that could stream PlayStation games. Welcome to Morning Checkpoint for March 25, 2026. I am currently reading an incredibly worthwhile but grim 4,000 word essay on how every facet of modern life is increasingly indistinguishable from gambling. Seems bad!

Your never too old to get into video game streaming

China’s Yang Binglin was recently crowned the oldest video game streamer in the world for his playthrough of Resident Evil Requiem. The 91-year-old grandpa played it from the comfort of a little chair and giant TV, streaming the whole thing and beating it without guides. I hope he gets into playing Marathon next.

Sony is ditching PlayStation cars

The Afeela electric vehicle was the product of a joint venture by Sony and Honda to release a PlayStation-themed car. It was revealed in 2023 and set to arrive in 2025 but remained MIA. It was intended to be controllable with a DualSense and allow remote play from the dashboard, but now it’s dead. The two companies agreed to “discontinue the development and launch of its first model, AFEELA1, and its second model,” Nikkei reports (via VGC).

Crimson Desert players don’t like how the game handles mounts

They want permanent mounts but the open-world adventure currently doesn’t let you auto-summon them. Some players have started a makeshift movement to get Pearl Abyss to change that. Given promises of potential DLC and multiplayer if players ask for it, no potential future changes seem out of bounds for the hit game.

A new FIFA game lets you play as Thor and Diego Maradona

Soccer’s international governing body is having fun giving the license to whoever asks. FIFA Heroes is the first game out of the gate ahead of the World Cup this summer with a mobile release on April 26. It’s developed by Enver, whoever that is, and will rely on magnetic tackles and other gameplay shortcuts to translate the beautiful game into a simple touch control loop.

Much like the federal deficit, it keeps ballooning as players sell him all of their junk. The official tracker has updated the figure on the remake’s third anniversary and it’s not pretty. Total losses accrued to-date are 3,337,279,919,290 Pesetas.

Nintendo knows its GameCube Pokémon game keeps crashing

Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness was recently added to the Switch Online library on Switch 2 but it’s having issues. The company recently said it’s aware that fans keep getting errors that lead the game to forcibly close while they’re playing and is investigating what’s wrong.

The faces of Roblox are changing

The platform’s “classic” faces began going extinct earlier this week and are now all being replaced with “dynamic” faces as the social platform tries to evolve. Players are not happy. “Three public apologies and a 51,000-like devforum post begging them not to do this they did it anyway,” one wrote.
