The Arc Raiders Cold Snap update dropped yesterday, with a plethora of changes and new additions to the game. From the Snowfall map condition that can give your raider frostbite to the new Flickering Flames event, not to mention all the balance changes, including security lockers no longer being in fixed locations, it's an exciting time to be an Arc Raiders player.
One change that wasn't in the patch notes, however, is that the drop rate for blueprints has increased significantly. Until now, they've been infamously hard to find, with 75 available in total, but players have been able to go days upon days of gameplay without finding one.
They're essentially crafting recipes, so once you learn one, you're able to craft that item or weapon at your workbench, provided you have the materials. The only way you can lose that ability is by embarking on an expedition, which resets your character and progression almost entirely.
Image: Embark Studios via PolygonOf course, your chances of finding blueprints increase even more when you enter the more difficult maps, such as Stella Montis and The Blue Gate, during map conditions that offer higher-tier loot, such as Night and Snowfall. In one container — not just one run or one room — when playing a Stella Montis Night raid last night, I found two blueprints simultaneously. Unfortunately, Stella Montis does what Stella Montis does best, so I was killed before I could successfully extract…
This means that you should be playing the most difficult Arc Raiders maps you can right now, because blueprints are seemingly much easier to find, but since it wasn't in the patch notes, there's every chance this is an error, and it could be hotfixed out soon.
While you're at it, read up on our guide to 'The Clean Dream' quest, which was also added with the new update.
