Reliable Lego leaker Brick Clicker has revealed claims that alongside the Spongebob franchise returning to the realm of plastic bricks and a Dragon Ball Shenron build in 2026, we’re also due to see an enormous new Pokémon set based around a Pokéball that opens up to reveal a diorama inside.
We learned last year that Lego had managed to reclaim the enormously valuable Pokémon license from Mega Bloks. Then, as the first few builds were revealed in January, we discovered they looked incredible, but would cost eye-watering amounts of money. That Lego premium, about which people like to say, “Well, you’re paying for the quality of the instructions, aren’t you?” as the company attempts to make you justify spending hundreds of dollars for molded plastic bricks, is really pushing at the boundaries of reason with its Pokémon sets, and that’s looking to continue should the Poké Ball set rumor prove true.
As Zack pointed out a couple of months back, comparing like-for-like builds between Mega Bloks and Lego, it’s pretty tough to see where the quadrupling in price is justified. But this is the situation we’re now in, and while Lego is proving typically slow to reveal a decent range of pocket monster options, it looks like the plan is to go big with its bizarrely “18+” builds.
Quite why Lego thinks someone needs to be over 18 to attempt its larger sets is a mystery to me. The idea that a 16-year-old might stare at the pile of plastic in bemusement and just start crying seems perhaps a little unlikely. But anyway, the claim here is that the very adult set featuring a Pokéball will be numbered 72154 and be a 2,239-piece build, due out August 1, 2026.
That’s a lot of Lego, and the price matches. $260, claims Brick Clicker, who also says the set should include minifigs, and apparently pre-molded Pokémon too. The ball, once assembled, should then open up and “reveal a diorama inside.” Which sounds amazing.
You can see a bunch of other rumored new sets in the video above, including the aforementioned Spongebob sets and, most importantly, Snoopy. And there’s also that Dragon Ball Shenron display set. There are no more details at this point, but it will have minifigs, and is due to arrive in November.
