One of the best features in Meccha Chameleon is its custom maps. The base game has a great set of maps and developer lemorion_1224 is churning out maps, but you'll quickly find their best hiding spots. To really make the best of the painting prop hunt game, you need to try out its community-made maps.
Here's a list of some of the best Meccha Chameleon custom maps and how to install them.
How to play on custom maps in Meccha Chameleon
There are two ways to play on custom maps in Meccha Chameleon: download them from the Steam Workshop or download them in-game via the host. However, before you download a custom map, make sure to check out its Steam Workshop page to make sure you're not downloading anything suspicious. Look at its rating, the number of current subscribers, and its comments to see if there is anything out of the ordinary.
As the host, you'll need to install custom maps from the Steam Workshop. Once you find one that you like, subscribe to it to install it. Then, make a server, and interact with the blue button in the lobby. There will be a list of maps on the right side of the screen, and if you scroll down, you'll find the custom maps that you've installed listed in purple.

The host will swap the map, and if you don't have the map installed, a blue box that says "The Mod must be downloaded to start the game. Click here to download it. No restart required," will appear on your screen. Click the blue box to open the map's Steam Workshop page, and then subscribe to it to download it. When done correctly, the message will swap to "Download Confirmed."
If you get the "You've made too many requests recently" error, you can instead search for the map's name in the Steam Workshop, hover over it, and click the magnifying glass. This will open up a mini pop-up, where you can subscribe to it.

There are a ton of custom maps available for Meccha Chameleon, but we've curated a list of some of the best maps to add to your rotation. Before you start, we recommend increasing the "Hunter Wait Time" setting to at least two minutes as these maps feature a lot of hiding spots, and you want to give your hiders ample time to paint themselves.
Art Gallery
Image: Popunia, Lemorion_1224 via PolygonThe Art Gallery is a museum that has well-known paintings and portraits along its walls. You can bring out your inner artist as you try to turn yourself into the Mona Lisa, one of the Twelve Apostles, or subvert the hunter's expectations entirely and become the floor. Just make sure to increase the Hunter Wait Time even more when playing on this map, so you can paint a masterpiece.
Fall Guys Level
Image: ArenaCloser12, Lemorion_1224 via PolygonThis colorful map straight-up does look like a Fall Guys level, as the name implies. The flat colors are easy to paint and blend in with, making it fairly easy to hide in plain sight. There's a lot of trinkets and doodads spread around the level, allowing you to hide in cheekier places, too, if that's more of your style.
The Market
Image: Tunep, Lemorion_1224Hope you enjoy fruits and vegetables as The Market is full of pumpkins, watermelons, cabbage, and pumpkins. Even if you don't enjoy painting yourself as food, there are a lot of items and locations where you can hide yourself.
Maplestory Lacheln
Image: Skolas, Lemorion_1224 via PolygonMaplestory Lacheln is a 3D replica of the dreamy city, Lachelein, from Maplestory. You won't find Lucid in the clocktower, but you will find quite a few places to hide. Since this map is filled with complicated architecture, there are a lot of different places to hide, even if you're not very good at painting intricate details.
(Yes, the map name is spelled that way even though the area in Maplestory is spelled "Lachelein.")
Minecraft House
Image: IAmChriss_, Lemorion_1224There are a bunch of Minecraft-themed maps on the Steam Workshop, but the Minecraft House is one of the best for fans of the title. Disguise yourself as a torch, a flower, or if you really don't want to be found, some grass outside. The map itself is not too big, but there are a ton of hiding spots both inside and outside the house.
Swimming pool!
Image: Popunia, Lemorion_1224 via PolygonThe Swimming pool! map is pretty simple and small, so it can make hiding a little tough. You'll need to get creative to pull off a successful round as a chameleon on this map, but if you like a challenge, this is the map for you.
Viking Dining
Image: RareKiwi, Lemorion_1224Viking Dining takes you to a tavern full of shields, swords, spears, and ale. Items are scattered everywhere, giving the hiders a lot of props to hide as. However, it's not too cluttered and the map is on the smaller side, making the job a little less daunting for the hunter.
