Borderlands 4: Driller Hole Location and Loot Drops
Driller Hole is one of the story bosses in Borderlands 4, and he drops some of the best gear for those who like sniper rifles.
Thanks to the Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned DLC, there are now even more bosses to fight in Borderlands 4 and even more loot to obtain. One of the more difficult bosses you can find in this DLC is Captain Willis, and he is not to be taken lightly.
Let's break down everything you need to know about Captain Willis in Borderlands 4, such as his location, drops, and tips to defeat him.
Captain Willis Location
Captain Willis is in the farthest reaches of The Whispering Glacier region specific to the Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned DLC. Before you can reach him, you will need to complete the main story of the DLC, as it ends with you meeting him in the Maelstrom.
After defeating him, you can return to Captain Willis by traveling to the Dahl ship in the southeastern corner of The Whispering Glacier. At the end of the ship, you will be able to transition from The Whispering Glacier to the Maelstrom.
Once inside the Maelstrom, make your way north to the farthest reaches of the location. Here, you will find a massive portal. Jump into the portal to access the boss arena.
After defeating the boss again, you will find the return portal near the door leading to the Speakeasy. This will return you to the area just before the portal, allowing you to access the Vault of the Damned again.
Inside the vault, you will see the Moxxi Replay machine for Captain Willis near the entrance to the boss arena.
Captain Willis Loot
Captain Willis has two legendary items and one pearlescent item in his dedicated loot pool, with each item being fairly powerful and worth getting your hands on. These items consist of one assault rifle, one shotgun, and one head ordnance.

Heimdahl |
Heavy Ordnance |
Rig: Bullets are replaced with Dahl soldier heads that attack nearby enemies. |

Reminisce |
Shotgun |
Remnant: Does not reload. Instead, it refills the ammo when the bullets return. |
|
Crow-Sourced |
Assault Rifle |
Cryo Override: Converts damage to cryo. Left of the Murder: Fires random objects. |
The two legendary weapons in Captain Willis' loot pool are Heimdahl and Reminisce. Heimdahl is a legendary heavy ordnance that fires Dahl soldier heads instead of regular ammo.
Reminisce is a legendary shotgun that doesn't reload. Instead, the bullets fired from it bounce back towards you, reloading the weapon as they return.

The pearlescent weapon of the group is the Crow-Sourced assault rifle. This weapon has two perks, with the first turning its damage into cryo damage. The second ability allows it to fire random objects.
Tips for Defeating Captain Willis
Captain Willis is not the most difficult DLC boss, and is far less annoying than previous DLC bosses like Sturm & Drang. Willis has two health bars, with the first being armor and the second being health.
You should enter the fight with a corrosive weapon to deal with the boss's armor bar and an incendiary weapon to deal with his health bar. Of course, if you have a strong action skill, like Harlowe's Chroma Accelerator or C4SH's dual pistols, you can make quick work of the boss's health.
Captain Willis has a lot of AOE attacks, which will require you to jump out of the way. Pay attention to the ground to avoid waves of energy and strafe to the left or right to avoid the lines of blood shards.
When you deplete the boss's armor bar, he will gain some additional attacks. When you see Willis lean back and begin to yell, get in close and use your grappling hook to pull his head.
This will stop the attack and stun him momentarily, allowing you to get some shots in before he retaliates. Willis will also collect energy before unleashing it around the arena. Be sure to be on the edge of the arena to avoid taking damage from this attack.
