The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt fans have been sent into a frenzy, as CD Projekt Red has announced a livestream for the anniversary of the Blood and Wine DLC, leading fans to believe that the rumored new expansions will be revealed there.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has two massively popular expansions: Blood and Wine and Hearts of Stone. These are often ranked among the best DLC content of all time, with quests that are considered the equal of the already incredible ones in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, and are considered by diehard fans to be just as important to the experience as the main story.
The Witcher 3 PS5 Mods Won't Be Coming This Year
CD Projekt Red has confirmed that mod support for the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has been delayed to 2026.
While CD Projekt Red is seemingly busy working on The Witcher 4, there have been rumors circulating regarding new content for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Those rumors have suddenly been given a lot more credence, as the REDstreams YouTube account has uploaded a livestream link for a Blood and Wine anniversary stream, which may be the place where the new DLC is revealed.
The Witcher 3: Blood And Wine Livestream Could Lay Out The Rumored New Content
The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine livestream will take place on May 28, 2026, at 5 pm CEST. According to the YouTube description, the livestream will involve The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Environment Art Director Kacper Niepokólczycki and Writer Magdalena Zych playing through the Blood and Wine DLC to celebrate its anniversary.
While it's not unheard of for developers to celebrate DLC releases, the fact that it's happening after numerous rumors regarding new DLC content for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has fans believing that this will be the place where it will be teased. If it does turn out to just be a boring livestream for a classic game, then at least the DLC rumors will be encouraging people to tune in.

While there are only unsubstantiated rumors regarding the new The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt DLC, it's claimed that it will connect to the events of the upcoming The Witcher 4, suggesting that it will heavily involve Ciri. That being said, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is Geralt's story, so he's likely to remain the protagonist.
The Witcher 4 is still several years away and will likely be pushed into the PlayStation 6/Project Helix generation, which might be a good thing, considering just how potent the graphics hardware will need to be. If The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt DLC is going to be a bridge to the new story content, then it's most likely going to be a teaser for Ciri's quest, rather than something that reveals details about its story or Geralt's current status.
While The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt fans are excited about the news, it bears mentioning that this could all be for nothing. CD Projekt Red is well aware of the rumors circulating about the DLC, even if they happen to be untrue, but that's not going to stop it from holding events, just because it might disappoint the fans, based on baseless rumors they read online.
If The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine DLC opens with the hosts downplaying any announcements for new content, then it's probably best to take them at their word and tune over to something else. If they don't, then it's worth sticking around to the end, as the long-awaited return to Geralt's story might finally be revealed.
