Chasing the Dawn / CTD PC (Final)

Manage risks with items and runes, gather resources, and rebuild your village. Their fate is shaped by your every click. Chasing the Dawn is a pure hand-drawn pixel art probability management strategy game. Whether you are a meticulous risk-management master or a lucky chosen one, prove yourself in this unpredictable dungeon! Gather allies, collect runes, use items, avoid danger! As Chasing the Dawn progresses, you will gradually unlock five expedition members, each with unique abilities. Controlling different characters to explore the dungeon, the situations you need to consider and the strategies you employ will vary greatly!

During your exploration, you will also encounter: · Seven maps of different styles with corresponding mechanics · Nearly a hundred types of enemies, traps, treasures, and food · Nearly a hundred runes; properly combining them can boost your combat power during exploration · Dozens of random events where opportunities and dangers coexist · More challenges and Chasing the Dawn content will be continuously updated in future versions. Stay tuned! A stage takes place on a 4×4 grid filled with tiles that can contain enemies, treasure, or traps. How movement across the grid works depends on the available movement cards. These allow movement within an entire row, a column, or a 2×2 area.

The movement cards available depend on the character chosen, so the examples above are only available to the first character. What makes Chasing the Dawn stand out is that while the area of movement is always known because the row, column, or 2×2 section is chosen directly, the exact tile landed on is completely random. Sometimes luck is on your side and treasure is found, while other times an unlucky landing leads to unwanted consequences. Some movement cards have a cooldown, so the same one can’t be used twice in a row. The odds of landing on a specific tile also change over time. Whenever a tile is landed on, it becomes inactive and can’t be selected again.

For example, if two tiles in a row have already been landed on, only two remain active, giving each of them a 50% chance of being chosen. Tiles can contain chests with gems, food that restores health, traps that deal damage, or enemies. What happens when landing on an enemy depends on the character’s strength compared to theirs. Both the player character and enemies have sword and staff values. If the matching stat is equal to or higher than the enemy’s, the enemy is defeated without taking damage. If the enemy is stronger, damage is taken, and the exact amount is clearly shown beforehand.
