Crimson Desert: Forgotten Altar Puzzle Guide

There are tons of puzzles in Crimson Desert that will give you a hard time. Sometimes the solution is very well-hidden, while others have the answer right in front of your face. The Forgotten Altar falls under the latter, but it can be tricky locating it.

The Forgotten Altar is an important puzzle in Crimson Desert, mainly because it's on one of the paths that lead to the final boss of the game. So, while many Abyss puzzles are optional, it seems like the Forgotten Altar is mandatory.

Forgotten Altar Location

The Forgotten Altar puzzle can be found in the Abyss, the sky map of Crimson Desert. While there are multiple ways to reach this location, the easiest is by completing the Disconnected Truth puzzle and then using the teleporter there to travel to the Forgotten Altar.

Keep in mind that the Forgotten Altar is generally encountered late in a playthrough. For reference, I didn't reach the Forgotten Altar until I was on my way to take down the final boss. However, each player's experience is different, so you may encounter this location much earlier.

Forgotten Altar Puzzle Solution

When you first reach the Forgotten Altar in Crimson Desert, the first thing you'll notice is a tornado in the center of the platform. Whatever you do, do not go near this tornado, or else it will suck you into its center and you'll die.

Instead, what you want to do is get the tornado deactivated. To do this, you first want to grab the large orb on the ground with Axiom Force and place it in the cylinder slot nearby.

Once you place the orb into its slot, the wind currents on the outer edge of the Forgotten Altar will activate. Use these wind currents to fly to the top level of the Forgotten Altar, which brings you above the tornado.

Next, make your way to the center of the platform directly above the tornado and use your Nature's Snare ability to stop the mechanism from turning. If you don't have the Nature's Snare ability, you can unlock it on the bottom left-hand side of your skill tree.

After using Nature's Snare on the mechanism, it will come to a halt and the tornado will disappear for good. This reveals a giant cube-like structure in the center of the Forgotten Altar, and your job is to get inside this cube and Force Palm the center cog.

To get inside the cube, climb onto one of its grated doors and use Force Palm on it to open it. To prevent yourself from flying off when using Force Palm, press the Resist button.

After getting inside the cube and smashing the center cog with Force Palm, you will have officially restored power to the Abyss. Now all you have to do is go claim the Abyss Artifact that has appeared nearby and the Forgotten Altar puzzle in Crimson Desert will conclude.
